Well I did it, I went out and picked up a 15-22. I have been saving money for one but I didn't have enough for the full price.

I had been searching for a good deal, when I found a shop 75 miles away that had a price of $399! I checked with all of the local shops to see if they could even get close. The first shop didn't have any but they could order one for $600. The second one had one gun left, but they wanted $540. I even checked a shop out of town that I drive past for work and they wouldn't go lower than $469.

So I headed out for the long drive to pick it up. After having seen it, I say it was well worth it!
I got home and showed it to my son and he was thrilled. We went out the range, but I forgot my darned camera. I will try to get pics next week when I get back into town.

At the range, we shot Blazer bulk ammo. 300 rounds with no issues. No prior cleaning or lube. Just spot on functioning. The trigger was a little stiff, but nothing major. The accuracy was spot on for Iron sights. What a blast! I can't wait till tomarrow!

Thanks for the reply, my son double posted this so here is my first noob sorry.
The one shop had the baseline at $540. They had it in the shop and it was no MOE.
The other shop didn't have one in but stated that they could order one for $600. I asked them what do they charge for a M&P15, he pointed behind the counter at one on the rack. Flipped the price tag so he could read it $1400!!! Hold up, that's your basic model?, he said yeah thats the going price. I asked to see it and it had the EOtech ultra dot on it. The guy behind the counter didn't have a clue.

Money is pretty tight right now, but that sounds very affordable. I will look into the springs, I prefer to work on them myself, just seems to be alot of fun with my son (12)

Well today I went out with a good friend and his wife to the range. Both him and his wife had never shot a 15-22, they had a blast. I also brought along the Savage Mark II and my old Remington single shot 514. We shot the bolt actions at very small metal swinging plates (2.5 inches) as well as some paper bulleyes. Then we would walk up and shot the 15-22.

After my son got home and had finished his home work, I took him out as well. We shot larger plates at 75 yards and then we would run up and do some shooting with the 15-22 and my Buckmark. My Son had so much fun doing the run and gun that we're going back again tomorrow. I'm going to set up a little tactical course on the pistol range. I really need to buy some more mags for the 15-22. I have 3 for the Buckmark, and he really enjoyed the tactical reloading and firing.
