New LVT Stainless

A trip to my not-so-local mega gun shop led me to bring home a new LVT Stainless. Surprisingly it was the same price as the blued model, and it has a pretty nice hardwood stock with a fair amount of figure in it. As I recall there have been several posts stating that the stainless ones had been kind of hard to find lately so I lucked out, although I am usually more of a blued/walnut kind of shooter. My brother bought the blued (black??) version several months ago and I thought it was a really nice assembly for a good price, although I think he may have actually have paid a bit more for his. Mounted a 2x7x32 Vortex Crossfire II rimfire scope on it and am looking forward to taking it to the range soon. One bummer is that this trigger is certainly nothing to be impressed with. Pretty gritty and rather heavy, not nearly as nice as the trigger on the Walnut Sporter I bought several months back. If some range time doesn’t smooth it out I will probably upgrade the trigger assembly with the Ruger BX trigger.

There was a pretty good selection at this place, having in stock a Talo stainless French Walnut 10/22, a walnut Sporter and a carbine model (I guess) with a 22“ barrel, as well as a Bergara semi-auto and a Magnum Research semi-auto in 22WMR. I really liked the Talo with the French walnut stock but couldn’t justify spending an additional $150 on it.

Hopefully I will get to break it in soon.

Congratulations! Very nice gun. That Talo French Walnut Sporter is on my bucket list . Back to your trigger. The grit ,is from the sear rub on the cut out in the safety. Unload the gun , cock the action, put onthe safety , then see if the safety urns a little ,id itdoes , center it. The spray the trigger group out with an air hose or a spray can , likegun scrubber, then hornady dry lube.

Thank you! I will give it a try. BTW.... I am seriously considering buying that Talo! Beautiful stock on it, and I am a sucker for a beautiful chunk of walnut.

PS, if you’re gonna spend the money ona trigger, Brimstone is doing trigger jobs again.
Congrats on the LVT. My personal experience, she’s a shooter! Now go get her hot and report back. ;)

Thanks. I will keep that in mind. I guess I am a bit spoiled when it comes to triggers as I have a few CZ 457 Americans with very good/awesome triggers right out of the box.

Sorry to have to tell you but that French walnut Sporter is currently on lay-away;). I have three months to pay it off. I doubt it will take that long!

Congrats! This is probably one of my favorite "stock" 10/22s.

:giggle::giggle:. Yes, it's real. :sneaky::sneaky: I shot the picture after taking pictures of my new Talo French Walnut 10/22 sporter so I decided to addit. It is a very nice shooter, but would be much better with a better trigger. All in good time.
how do you guy's like the rail that comes with the gun?....i here some say it's junk?
Don't have much to add other than to say that it is versatile and it works. At first I used a set of Warne rimfire dovetail rings to mount a different scope but didn't care for how high it sat because I couldn't get a good cheek weld. I replaced those rings with weaver style which allowed the scope to sit lower. Of course I then swapped out that scope with the 4x12x4 A0. It does add value to the package as a whole though.

Well, if you ask 2 people if they like something chances are you'll get 2 different responses. That's just the way people are.

So, is the factory 10/22 rail junk? No. It's a solidly well engineered addition to a rifle that's pushing 60 years in production with 7M of them out there.

For long range work (200 yards+) your scope might want an MOA rail so you don't run out of adjustment. Is an EGW scope rail 'better'? Sure, but for what? I like EGW rails (even though you didn't ask about them specifically) Because they are longer and give you better mounting options. They are about $37-40 each. Your call, but no. The Ruger factory rail isn't 'junk' no matter what anyone says.

Thank you. Will do!
Thank you for the info on the scope rail
Did you want an image of just the scope rail, not mounted?
