How did it function? Had one on order, but hear the competition across town has plenty as well as three bears. Saw someone fumbling with one in the cold last weekend and it was running poorly but looked like an ammo issue.

Ruger LCP II LITE RACK .22 LR.
I strongly recommend the Lucas Gun Grease , Lucas Oil , Lucas CLP cleaner.

I purchased one of these New Ruger LCP II .22LR to carry as a backup .It's a sweet little Pocket Pistol .I added the Hogue Beavertail grip sleeve and its awesome addition I purchase 4 extra magazines for it. Before shooting it I lubed it with Lucas Extreme Duty Gun Grease. I fired about 400 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag 40 grain Copper Plated Round nose to break it in. Not one jam or failure in 400 rounds . I have about 800 rounds thru the Remington Thunder Terds had 10 duds out of 50 rounds fired ,I then cleaned it with Lucas Extreme Duty CLP and re lubed it again and fired another 500 rounds it performed flawlessly. If you don't have one of these LCP II Lite rack .22LR pistols I recommend you do you will enjoy shooting it. But before you shoot it you should clean and lube it this way your first time shooting will be free of any problems .

I hope you enjoy your LCP II .22 as much as I do mine , I've put well over 800 round thru it the only malfunction was the Remington .22LR Thunder Terds out of 50 10 were duds. I ran them back thru and none fired total duds Bulk ammo go figure ! I carry my LCP II .22 LR every day as a back up I am confident in it and would not hesitate to use it to defend myself .I use the CCI Velocitor copper plated hollow point .22LR ammo , it's the fastest most accurate 40 grain Hollow Point on the market it hit's hard and penetrants deep .I do how ever recommend the Hogue Beavertail grip sleeve for the Ruger LCP II .22LR OR .380 it not only improves the looks and feel of the LCP II and positions your trigger finger in the correct position on the trigger . I just love this little Pistol my wife has one but her Hogue Grip is pink and she likes her LCPII also .

Magazines are easy to get. Ebay, Brownells, gunmagwarehouse, etc etc...
Street price of the gun near me started at $279, then $300, now $369 is about the going price.
I bought like 4 extra mags, I think around $42 for two mags

OP just use good quality high velocity (1200 and up) fps ammo, and you should be fine. CCI, Aguila, Armscor, Winchester in the 100 rd packs, CCI Blazer all work like 99% in mine,
The only ammo I have had less than stellar results with was subsonic ammo (1050 or less FPS) and Winchester White box bulk Super X ammo.
The WWB was garbage- two lots I had may have been bad, but it functioned like crap in four different pistols I have. I was disappointed because I have had pretty good luck with the WWB historically.

I like the size of it!
But my experience with Ruger hasn't been the best lately so I'm happy to get a little feedback from RFC.

I love the one I purchased this year. So far around 2k plus rounds through it without a single issue. I have nothing bad to say about it. The wife has sort of claimed it and it gets quite a bit of range time. As long as I use good ammo I have had zero issues. So far some SV ammo is not cycling.
The following is what I tested to date.

Blazer 22LR 38gr. 1235fps. LRN

TESTED Aquila, Super Extra, 40gr., 1255fps.(GOOD)
*Whether you use it for self defense is up to you. There are some who have issues with it. If I had to I would in a emergency with a second thought.

Realistically, for me at least, I would be feeding this pistol high velocity bulk ammo and saving my SV for the rifles. So as long as it runs Mini Mags and Golden Bullets and the like, I would be satisfied.
My Beretta Bobcat is pretty ammo fussy, and heavy to boot, so the 22 LCP is very appealing to me.

I have been exceptionally pleased with mine to the point that I plan to get another next trip to Larry's Pistol & Pawn. You know...one is none and two is one.
