Hey all, I just won this Sears ranger 22 in a charity raffle. I believe it may be a Stevens or Savage model. I am trying to figure out the exact model so I can start researching spare parts. The only identifier is on the barrel it says Ranger 22 long rifle. It is a magazine fed bolt action, any help would be greatly appreciated! It also came with this Weaver G6 for scope, the front seat post and rear sight were missing when I got the rifle.

The action and barrel are the Ranger version of the Stevens 416 target rifle, but it appears to be in a stock from a sporter model. It would have originally been in a heavy target contour stock with a steel buttplate and without the front barrel band that holds the sling - that looks over sized and too wide to fit right on the present width stock, and the reduced nose on the stock looks a little uneven. I would look at the inletting in the stock and see if it looks like factory work. It should have a dovetail for a front sight and I do not see one, so I think the barrel may have been shortened.

It should also be drilled & tapped for scope blocks, one on the receiver and one on the barrel, and not have a dovetail for a rear sight.

Thanks for the info! The front sight you can tell snapped off, I didn’t measure the barrel but I’d guess it’s 22-24 inches. The gun store that raffled it off told me they put a Remington butt plate on the rifle because the old one was missing. The gun fires very nicely though! The only issue I noticed it it has a lot of play in the trigger left and right. Other than that no issues. Thanks for clarifying the model! I’m going to purchase a new front sight and rear and some spare parts
The barrel should be 26" with a dovetail for the front sight.

My rifle is same model. Scope blocks for Unertyl style scope and i think originally peep sight on rear. drilled and tapped same as mine with dovetail on front.
