I certainly hope so. its in really good condition considering its age. I think I got a fair deal on it. needs a good wiping down with oil and a boresnake through it but overall happy with it. now to find the time to shoot it and I'll be set.

Thanks for the front sight shot. Most guys think that the only front sight that came on the 60 was the blade, but I have seen others and they are almost always like the one on yours. So maybe Winchester used more than one sight on the model 60. RRM

Hey Que very nice gun.:bthumb: I have the 60A target model. It has a different stock thats looks like the model 52A stock. I can't get enough of these old Winchesters and they are some very good shooters. Hope you have as much fun shooting it as I do shooting mine.

yeah Kilbo I enjoy gathering these older rifles myself. With me they won't see much range time as range time for me is scarce. Don't stop one from appreciating the workmanship that was put into these older rifles.

60a

Que-I've seen and owned a number of 60A's and have never seen what is referred to as the 60A "Sporter" with the Lyman 55W receiver sight which was standard on the 60A Target. (I do happen to have one of those) It is listed as an optional rear sight for your variation in `Stroebel's "Old Gunsights" book so it's absolutely proper. He does not list the Lyman 17 or 17A globe front as an option, one of which (hard to tell which one from the pics) is on your rifle. The standard front is the very common- and often used by Winchester-75C and the optional front is listed as the Lyman #3 gold bead front. However, one of my Model 57's has the earlier and smaller Lyman 17 Globe on the front and-whereas it's not listed as an option-I'd bet the rifle that it's original from the factory. If it's the later 17A on your rifle you can tap it out and see if it's marked "HI" on the bottom (might even be on the side, but I doubt it) which is the application code for the Model 60, among others. Either way, you've scored on another Win. bolt action .22 (like your 69A Junior Target) with relatively rare attributes. Nice little gun. -Asa

Que do you really think you'll be able to stop after a couple more purchases. ( I know I couldn't ):D I just found a Model 68 that I put on layaway at the shop I work part time at and I can't wait till I have a day off from work to pick it up.

PS I have two 52's now so you have to get in the game my friend. Once you buy one you'll want more of them cause they are a great gun to shoot.:bthumb:

haha well thats what I'm hoping to do anyway. I have a few others, different brands, I am looking for a some that I need to find parts for to make them complete. the 68 and the 52 are on list list of "guns to get" but who knows. the list gets added to all the time.

you feel like getting rid of one of those 52s? not like you really "need" both of them

Whoever said anything about NEED but I'll give it a try. Do I sell the one with the 15 power Unertl ( NO---- the gun has never let me down ) Maybe the one with the Redfield olympic sights ( That gun will shoot one inch groups and better at 50 meters with open sights. Probably better with some good ammo. ) Man I just don't know which gun should I sell ??????? Tell you what Que I'll get back to ya in a decade or two.:D
In all seriousness I hope you find a good 52 soon because like I said before they are great shooters.

Brian I understand as I wouldn't parts with any of my rifles except an extreme crisis. it'll be some time before I get a 52 as the $$ for them are up there. I have a few others that are going to be $$ also that I'd like to own... Rem 37 & 40X. one of these days maybe.
