My new Ruger came in.

Here are the pics of my new gun Ruger replaced, I even got an extra mag too. One week ago today UPS picked up the scratched gun and the new one got delivered to my ffl today. It is in perfect condition, love Ruger guns and their customer service. First time I ever had to use it.

I do have a problem with the new one, I got it home and started to clean it before shooting and I noticed the grip on the right side was a little loose. I tried to tighten it and the screw will just spin, the brass fitting in the grip is stripped out. Just my luck seems like, gonna call Ruger again but I ain't sending it in again.

Update, I just talked to ruger, they gonna sent a new grip frame out to me and I have to mail this bad grip frame back to them in prepaid mailer. The lady said they get these complaints on the 22/45 every now and then but not often. She believes the insert wasn't threaded and after looking, I can't see any threads in it. The other three screws are good. A+ to Ruger, looks like I gotta wait to shoot it still.

It's a missed opportunity on their part to send out a replacement gun.....and not inspect it first.

Sending bad after bad isn't a good look.

That is a way to kill a reputation.

It's good that they are taking care of it for you and sounds like it'll be handled swiftly.

Another update on the grip frame. Ruger has no timeline when the grip will ship. They said they will have it made to make sure it's right this time and right now they are behind. So it could be a while, was kinda hoping it would be this past week since I spoke to them last week but Friday I was told it could be a long wait. I will keep my fingers crossed that it will be sooner rather than later.

UPDATE: Well it started with a scatched frame that Ruger said needed replaced with a new gun. I got the new gun but then the grip screws had stripped out in the frame on one side. Ruger said no problem, we will send a new frame but to take my grips off as they won't send new grips. Taking the grips off I lose three of the screws down a vent when removing grips. Ruger said we will send new screws with frame. Now today I get a surprise in the mail, my new grip frame came in WOO HOO I can now get it back together. Nope They sent the wrong screws, they screw in loose and stick out past the grips, I believe they sent regular Mark 4 screws. Well tomorrow another call to Ruger and maybe the right screws by next week I hope. Doesn't look like I am ever gonna get this thing together. Ruger tho has been very nice and I give them an A+ for trying and maybe this will be the last hurdle.

I have not owned a Ruger yet, that didnt need something done. That is why I continue to buy them. Price is right, they are close to being good and a few upgrades gets them running smoothly in my experience.

It is a bit depressing to read tour saga with this pistol.

Thought I would post a shooting update, I decided till the right screws came in that I could use the thicker headed screws to hold the grips on to at least shoot the new gun and see if it will shoot. They have the same threads but the thicker head sticks outside the grip and ain't comfortable if shooting long periods. With rain most of the day I caught a dry spell to run in my back yard. I fired less than 50 rounds but it shot great and accurate, shot at 10 yards and a bit farther. All shots were very accurate with well under 1 inch off hand group. Looks like this new Ruger will shoot like the old one and I will small game hunt with it.

boomer, 'sorry to hear of your troubles, but I have to ask...why did you go through an FFL to send your pistol back to Ruger? You as the owner of that handgun can send your firearm to Ruger - and Ruger will send it back to your doorstep, legally. This not only requires less running around for you, it saves you the transfer cost(s) at your FFL as well.

'Just something for you to ponder for the "next time" a similar situation occurs.

I've heard FedEx won't accept firearms from individuals any longer, not sure about UPS. I tried to ship some SK ammo not long ago through a FedEx run location... all the proper markings, etc... they acted like it was full of the black death or something.. refused it, told me I had to be a licensed dealer. UPS gave me no issue.

UPS is also going the same route they won't even accept an air rifle.
Seems to me that we are all going to apply for FFLs just to be able to enjoy the sport.
