You're right, the sights aren't real precise, but they are much better than I would have guessed or needed.

They are "on" close enough at 30 yards, that I was able to put ten of ten in a 5" circle. Probably better with practice, but not needed by any means for this pistols purpose.

I'll get some more time in with it before I make any claims on what it'll do.

The barrel is 3.5"

With these sights, I'm able to put all ten in to a 5 inch circle at 25 yards freehand.

I think the gun will shoot much better than that, but that round bead for a front sight takes a lot of studying, especially as the sunlight changes.

I have no idea how it chronos, but I do know it's a loud little bugger, so I'm sure there's some loss of efficiency.

Still love it, and yes, it is a secondary defense gun. I'm a thousand times more proficient with a 22 auto than any combat pistol I've got, and I'm way more comfortable with what I know best, even if it is "just a 22" ;)

Not being handy ( like you ) and not being rich ( Volquartsen ), I bought a Lipsey's Special MK4BL. Looks a lot like your project, except the barrel is .5" longer. I really like it - it is relatively "heavy" ( at least compared to my buddy's Buckmark )and I do better with that kind of gun. I, too, do much better with this gun than any of the "real" defense firearms I have.

P.S. Best $$ I ever spent was the $3 for the Butler Creek "thumb saver"!

You guys don't need to be "handy" for this project .... just a little shopping, a few trips to the post office, and phone call or two. The guy who did the work for me will gladly do more, and he's as sharp as they come with equipment. (retired Boeing machinest, R&D)

For the next tip; the next best twelve bucks you can spend is for the magazine release from Ranch Products. Available from Volquartsen or Brownells, and worth every penny. It installs in a minute or so, and much more user friendly than the factory one.

Happy shootin'

OdT,
I second your suggestion for the Ranch Products magazine release. I just had all four of our Mk 1's/Mk 2's fitted with them. I'm totally hooked.
In fact, I got the idea off one of your ealrier posts/relpies...thanks!
