I had the same thing occur when I first got my 74. It happened if I loaded more than 11 rounds in the tube. After I sprayed the tube out with Break Free, worked the plunger in and out, then sprayed it out with compressed air, all seemed to work fine...except with standard velocity lead nose bullets. Anything jacketed/copper washed works fine now.
