From what I have read the mode 69 was introduced in 1935, and the model 69A was introduced in 1938. Wer'e any 69's made after 1938? If not, then the 69's had only 4 years of production as opposed to 25 years for the 69A. All of the price guide books simply lump both models together?

69A had an improved cocking mechanism over the 69. Once the improvement was made , Winchester did not revert to the 69. So the answer to your question is no. Similar situation to the 62/62A.

You Have it Right

I believe the 69A was produced until the early 60's. The guidebooks do not reflect the higher selling prices of the 69. You can get a 69A in excellent condition for $250, try to find a 69 in a similar condition for $250.
