Was at my local gun shop the other day and he had a Standie on his counter with the MKIII Hunter Stainless in 17HM2... It said "New for 2005".. Anyone heard of these?
Prototypes were made and advertising was done but turnd out the ammo was producing a different pressure curve than originally thought so back to the drawing board. Browning discovered the same thing with it's Buckmarks I understand too.
The gun that IS the Hunter was supposed to be the 17M2 until ATK issued their warnings about using the 17 in semiauto and Ruger then used that design with a .22 barrel to become the Hunter....oh well.
and this would explain why I cannot find any info on it. Thanks guys.
Just another pipe dream.
