I have a Simmons 44mag 6.5-20x-44 and I tried two styles of Millet rings on the new Ruger 10/22 Ruger with the Weaver base and it was such a hassle to align the Millets that I gave up and ordered a set of Simmons rings. I could not find a set of rings in my metropolitan area to mount this scope to the Ruger so I had to mail order. I tried a Leupold base but it required tapping another screw hole in a reciever that already had 4 factory holes so I took the Leupold back rather than tap a 5th hole. Millet rings do not get along well with Weaver bases even though the Millet packaging says it's for Weaver bases. I will only use a ring setup that is easily removed and put back without excessive readjustments. Anybody have this problem?

I like the Leupold Rifleman rings on a Weaver base.
Walmart has 'em for around $17.

I notice your leupold rings clamp on the outside of the base close to the reciever instead of the narrow rail on the top. Looks very sturdy. Im looking at Midsouth and another site to find that setup. No luck yet.

Yep, the narrow rail on top is for a 3/8" dovetail mount. The Rifleman rings use the "cross-slot" Weaver attachment.
The base is a Weaver TO-9. They usually run around 5-7 bucks.

I have been useing the T0-9 base with Weaver Grand Slam Low Mount's..
It's pretty effective, and is about as low a setup as I can find.
I wish that the mount did not have the overlap in front and I could get the mount a bit back and still be able to use 4 screw's.

Yard varmit's, seem to like the setup. I cought this one trying to screw with my adjustment's. He got bit by the Wolf.. :smashfrea

IF you check around Millett makes a set of rings just for the to-9 base. thats why you are having a problem with the Millett's. thats all i run on my rifles unless there is not that option. if you get the correct ring's for your application your problems will just go away. good luck and keep :snipersmi

I have the Leupold rifleman base and rings on 2 of my 10/22's, they are very sturdy and reliable. Also affordable........

I had lotta probs finding HIGH weaver style scope rings for my new Simmons 44 mag to fit my Ruger 10/22 reciever and I tried 3 different types before I was satisfied with a set. I learned a bit. I even went and replaced the set on another rifle when I discovered how much more sturdy some ring styles are than others.

Low and medium rings grow on trees but HIGH rings are a b***h to find. I had to mailorder them. Not a single decent set of them were in my metropolitan area that fit the Weaver base.

Now both my 22LR and my 17mach2 have heavy duty rings on those cheesy Weaver bases. The base will fail before the rings do. I have 3 different rails all Weavers and I don't like any of the 3 but the holes line up and I'm not drilling a 5th hole in my recievers just to use a Leupold mount.

I mounted my Mueller 8.5x25x50 Eradicator on my 10/22 using Leupold Rifleman high mounts and 2 Weaver bases, Weaver #47 and Weaver #428. Makes for a really sturdy setup.

Since you already have the millet rings -you can file the "ears" on the rings so they don't hit the top of the receiver and hit the filed parts with a bit of cold blue. I also discovered the problem when tring to mount a regular set of millet low rings on a t-09. works fine and looks good.
