Any thoughts / ideas on what I could use to tighten up a loose barrel on a Marlin 60? I bought a highly abused 60 for a project gun (the barrel was duct taped to the stock it was so loose). I was thinking maybe JB weld, along with some punch pricks on the knurling before I installed the barrel. I'm not looking for tack-driving accuracy here, just a kids gun to plink golf balls with. Any ideas are appreciated.

If it was that loose I'd be worried that the receiver ring was cracked. It's unusual that a Model 60 barrel would shoot loose--since it doesn't move and shouldn't wear? Red loc tite or Brownells steel bed would work to put it back. The stress load of firing would be on the barrel any way so it shouldn't pose a safety problem. The idea of sending it back to Marlin is a good idea--you might end up with a pretty good rifle!
