Hoping to get a recommendation on a inexpensive yet reliable speed loader for my Ruger Mark III. Is "inexpensive yet reliable" an oxymoron or does such a speed loader exist??

Any recommendations will be appreciated!!

McFadden is the way to go. May take a little "tuning" but once you get it set it will be perfect.
When it works, it works great. However - it seems to need "tuning" for various brands of ammo. One brand will work fine, another won't work at all. Adjust for the 2nd, then the first won't work. I'm starting to not use mine anymore, after several years of being rather enthusiastic about it.

The Tandemkross lanyard speed loader (costs less than $10) works GREAT. It is so simple, is just ONE piece of solid lexan so no risk of breaking, Takes the stress off your thumb from the mag buttons on any typical 22LR pistol mag; Ruger MKs, Browning, etc.

Back in the 80's my LGS sold a plastic 'hook' shaped thing that grabs the follower button (regardless of which side) and holds it down. Makes loading the mags real easy. Though I'd seen similar since, I've never seen them again.
On the suggestion of a friend I bought one of the McFaddens. Haven't used it much, but works fine out of the box with Mini-Mags.

Check out a website called 22Loaderz.com. You can also find them on eBay, IIRC. They do them for different models, but I have found that some work for magazines for several different brands and models. Very inexpensive. Very effective and simple. Even got a pink one for the wife's pistol.

This one looks very interesting but the picture of the packaging mentions only the Mark 1 & Mark II. Do you happen to know if it will work on the Mark III?

Thanks!
If you get the one marked for "Ruger I&II", it will be very close to working for mark 3,4 mags. These mags have a couple extra "push outs" that will need some clearance added for. A few minutes with a small file can modify the loader to work just fine. :t

The HKS will work w/ Mark III. Carefully take a small file and remove a SMALL amt of plastic from the corner that the mag safety 'bump' sticks out on. Go slow and try it several times. When the mag will just slide into the device stop. That will greatly assist in loading mags. The HKS thing is labelled for Mark IIs not Mark IIIs. Get the one labelled for Mark I and Mark IIs..

Anyone say the McFadden? Well, if not, then that.

If I have a couple of mags, I'm using my thumb. If I'm dragging 5-10 mags out for steel challenge practice or something to where I'm loading 250rds in a 30 min period, I will bring the McFadden loader. Even when its dirty and hanging up a bit, its still faster. When its clean with no wax/lead buildup in the slot, its like magic.

I am also a McFadden owner and will tell you that there is no faster loader for the Mark series guns. My only complaint is that it is bulky so things can get tight with my small range bag but no problem with my large bag.

HKS (the red one) will work also. Just needs a gentle touch w/ file on one of the round corners, the one the safety nub on the mag ends up in.

File SLOWLY, check often for fit of mag. Soon the mag will slide in nicely and can be used on Mark II and III and probably I's.
