I had this malfunction at the range the other day. I have never seen a feed issue like this. The round flipped up and got nice and stuck. It actually happened once before and I was able to pull the round out. Then 2 rounds later this happened. I got so flustered trying to pry the round out at the range that I didn't even think about dropping the base and follower and clearing it from the bottom. Ended up dropping it in the bag and dealing with it this morning. Just wondering if anyone else had a malfunction like this with their Tippmann magazines. I have 2 magazines and about 500 rounds between the 2. So far only one of them has had an issue

I suspect if you had dropped the case then take the feed pressure off that round it would have easily popped right out. By not doing that and attempting to 'pry' out the round there is the risk the magazine will be damaged.

I did take the feed pressure off. The round was flipped backwards and I just couldn't get it to flip the right way. It was just a fluke situation. I was concerned that the magazine might be damaged but it seems to be ok. I agree though, prying wasn't the right choice. Hopefully there isn't a next time, but if so no more prying.

Happened to me once. I had been having feeding issues, I think due to running subsonic ammo that would occasionally not have the pressure to fully cycle the bolt. In one instance I think it failed to fully strip a round, that round started stove-piping out of the mag which I didn't notice and I just cycle the bolt manually resulting in the bolt pushing the round forward in the mag just like you had pictured. There is a vertical rib in the mag that keeps the primer end towards the back, normally. Once the primer gets past that rib it is difficult to remove without tools.

Unfortunately the issues I was running into were during an Appleseed event and I was more concerned with getting back to the course of fire than figuring out what was going wrong every time.

Tippmann M4-22 Magazine Malfunction

Usually happens when the magazine is incorrectly loaded. Tippmann has a video posted on YouTube showing the advised procedure.

I had some similar feeding problems when I started out. Are you using subsonic ammo? My first 100 rounds were all CCI subsonics, and I had the exact same misfeed. I haven't had that happen since I switched away from that ammo, though I can't say whether it's the ammo's fault, my fault loading the magazine, or just the gun needing some break-in time.

Whatever the issue was, I went from 4-5 misfeeds in 100 rounds, to zero malfunctions in 300+ rounds since.

Side note, it's much easier to just drop the bottom plate off the magazine than mess with trying to pull the cartridge out once it's stuck. I spent much too long trying to pull the round out, or getting it back into place, and ended up flipping around several more rounds in the magazine. Taking out the spring and mag follower took less than 5 minutes the first time I did it, probably under 2 now that I know how to do it.
