Hey -

This is my first post, but thanks in large part to the great discussion on this forum, I'm diving into the .22 world with a Sig Trailside to complement my G19. One question, however - does anyone know of a mag loading tool (just something to protect my thumb from the mag's plastic stud) that fits the Trailside mags?

This one looks like it would work, but I'd rather know for sure before I order one: http://www.rimfiresports.com/mercha...e_Code=RSC&Product_Code=BW06&Category_Code=SA

Thanks in advance!

mag loader for sig trailside

the one in the link you provider will only work with .22 mags that have "larger" buttons on the side (ie. ruger 22/45, mark I, II, III, browning buckmark). the trailside mags are very similar to s&w model 41 mags. this is what you need to do:

1) purchase hks mag loader for the model 41 (hks part # MOD 22S)

http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=625361

2) once you have the mag loader mentioned above, you'll need to modify it slightly to get it to work for the trailside mags. you'll need to cut off 1/2 inch of the "tail" of the loader. this "tail" normally keeps the loader from flying off the mag by providing tension on the spine of the magazine tube/body. you'll be able to still use the modified mag loader, just be careful not to let go of it while it's under spring tension.

hope this helps save your thumbs while at the range.
