OK guys, I'm on a roll again. Need help. Is the Ruger M77 .22 Magnum barrel the same as a 10/22 Magnum barrel? More specifically, will a 77 .22 Magnum barrel fit into the 10/22 Magnum action? Figured I oughta find out before I buy one. Hmmm, preplanning, what a concept.

Ya want that match grade chamber that the 77-22 magnum
has. right ? I thought so.

It will fit " is you use the same washer and shim that we use
to put the 77-17HMR barrel on the 10-22 magnum.
Though the 77-22 has double extractor slots = makes no difference. Well , yes = it will work on all 10-22 magnums
(older single extractor - and new dbl extractor models.)

I MUST CONFESS= I have used this conversion on several
of my tack drivin 10-22 magnums , and have had excellent
results. Because you figured out the trick = I also will
part with one of my 77-22 magnum barrels.
sight or no sights = I think I have many of both. but no stainless
ones.

Wow ! Sinbad - you are thinkin overtime. pretty soon Chief
gonna have no accuracy tricks left.

You say you have a lot of mag barrels? How much for one with sights?

Geez Chief, giving away secrets like that! Not trying to undermine Chief but I have a NIB stainless barrel w/sights. Just thought I would throw you that option.

Sounds good to me. How much for a good barrel in .22 Mag? As long as it is Stainless or Blued, with or without sights. 20" to 24" long. I know I'm being real picky here, just my nature I guess. What I DON'T know about are the shim and spacer. What are they, what are they for, where can I get them, and how much do they cost.

Chief says "I dont have alot of 77=22 magnum barrels /
so heres chance for others who converted their 77's into
77-17HMRS to recap some of your money spent,
have at it. sell yer 7722 mag barrels.

Artifex can supply you with the shim and washer set .
t he same set used for converting the 77-17 hmr BARREL
to the 10-22 magnum = will work just fine.

Hey Chief, How well does the 10/17 conversion work with the Artifex shims? Is it a good accurate set up? Do you have to do anything to the bolt? Recommend any particular barrels?

Chief says : WORKEM FINE. Just slide the 22 magnum barrel
off , washer / shim from Artifex on yer new 77-17 gm brl.

ya get a 10-17 with 77-17 accuracy. and at a good price.

IT SHOULD and will outshoot the Ruger 77-17 production gun.
