I wandered into a gun shop today and saw a m-101 dura-matic on one of the shelves. It was from Hampden(sp?). I was intrigues in that it had wrap around wood grips, but also that, unlike my h-d military, the slide did not lock, nor was there an apparent provision for it to do so. The guy had it tagged for $270-ish. It had some wear on the bluing, and I was wondering what one should expect from this pistol.

All dura- matics that I've seen had a one piece plastic grip. They don't have a metal grip frame. Bolt goes thru the grip to hold it on. No hold open at least mine didn't have it. Pretty good plinker but magazines cost a lot. H-K makes magazines but they are sorry. For that price a Ruger or Buck Mark is a better buy. I have a S-101 Super matic It is all steel and shoots good.

No doubt the Ruger MK3 is a far better pistol than the Duramatic, I have one and it is in another league when compared to the Duramatic. A plastic grip is standard with this pistol, it is also the frame for the the mag well.
