Orgnoi1,

Nice pistols. :t

Wayne,
Care to sell me your MP95 for $500 :D

Tacoma,

Thanks for the info and link. I'm a weekly shooter, but I haven't seen any at the local ranges. If I don't come across one locally in the next month I will probably order one from Larrys.

Sean,
Nice try but no cigar. I have only gotten rid of three guns in my lifetime and they were all gifts, a Win. 9422 to each of my son's on their 18th birthday and a Gold Cup to a special friend of mine. I plan to keep buying them until the house bursts apart at the seams.

I shoot a Colt Match Target Woodsman for bullseye and I don't think there is anything better. It shoots standard velocity ammo and has the best factory trigger on just about any of my pistols. Papa
I haven't seen a Colt Match Target Woodsman. Are they hard to find? What do they go for?

Colt Woodsman Match Target

The 3rd Series lists for around $950 @ 100% in the 25th Edition of the Blue Book. Colt stopped making them in 1977. I ordered one new in 1977 but they had sold out and I had to settle for the Colt Woodsman Target. It took me 15 years to find one at a gun show and cost me $500 in 1992. The trigger is really sweet but it is not an Olympic target pistol. If you and I are going to shoot for score I'm going for 1) Benelli MP95E, 2) Walther GSP, 3) Hammerli 208, 4)Hammerli 280, 5)High Standard Supermatic w/ported barrel, 6) Colt Woodsman Match Target, 7) High Standard Victor, 8)S&W Model 41-7" in that order. that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. If I had ever shot my Browning Medalist I'm sure that it would be in there somewhere as will be a Pardini when I get it. DO NOT GET THIS DISEASE!!!!

Thanks for the info. Nice list! :t

For those of you who own a MP95E. Did you consider a MP90s? If so, why didn't you choose it? Was it price tag, or are the differences not worth the extra $?

I chose it for the features, the price, and since getting and shooting the 95E, I've found that this pistol will shoot as good or better than I EVER will!! I'd rather spend the extra money on extra mags, ammo, and range time.. I don't know your level of ability, but the 95E is at the VERY least the equal to a S&W41, period. My opinion and it won't change.
Good luck, Good shooting,

Bohunk/CraigJs/Wayne/other MP95e owners,

How are the grips on the 95E? Are you going to keep them? If not, why?

Also, do you have any feed back on ammo testing with it?

Sorry for all the questions.

I chose the MP95E over the MP90 for the same reasons that CraigJS and Bohunk did. I just couldn't see the difference for the money. As to the standard grips, that is one of the things that I like about it. The palm rests on the GSP and Hammerli bother me but I have small hands so it may be just me.

CraigJS & Bohunk
Do you use barrel weights in yours and if so what do you use? I flattened out some fishing weights, cut off the ends until I liked the balance and then drilled a hole for the screw.

I do have on order/back order both the 25 and the 40 gram Benelli weights. I'm not sure if I'll like them or not. By design the balance is already more front biased with the mag. and at least in my case the Ultra Dot being "forward". Thought I'd try them and see if they improve my rapid fire scores. They've been on backorder now for aprox. 3 months. ( unless they lost my BO ) Quite frankly I don't know if in fact they will improve my scores, but hey ya gotta try right?? :D I'll post a picture of my pistols if I can figure out how..

I don't have any extra weight but I do have Nill grips. I never even fired the gun with the factory grips. I had been shooting a .32 wadcutter MP95E, with Nill grips, for a few years before I got the .22, so I got the same grips for the .22 so both guns would be the same. My MP95E shoots best with Eley Pistol Standard ammo. I pay less than $300 a case for it and it's very accurate and very consistent.

A question from a newbie to target .22s - what is the difference between the Benelli MP95E and the MP90S? Looking at the Larry's Guns site, I initially thought the only difference was the grips, but the triggers look very slightly different too (maybe I'm making it up).

I was initially looking at IZH-35Ms but people are asking >$500 for used ones, which seems steep.

I found this on http://www.vaapensport.com/ebenpist.html

It Said: "The only difference between MP 90 S World Cup and MP 95 E is the grip and the trigger assembly. Since both pistols are made of modules, it is simple mater to upgrade from MP 95 E to MP 90 S World Cup."

MP 90 S World Cup - Trigger housing in aluminum. Made of a single monoblock.
MP 95 E - Trigger housing molded in plastic.

Larry's Guns web site also has the barrel rifling and loader capacity listed as being different between the two but that might just be listed wrong between the .22 cal and .32 cal.

I have both the 35M and the 95E, I shoot the 95E much better. Better balance, much nicer trigger, much much nicer grips (Nils). The 35M is my "backup" gun if the 95E were to go down. (hasn't yet) The 95E is the easier of the two to fire well, great combo for the price.. :t
