Lithgow interest.

I was reading about the crossover 101 I think. Man that sucker isn't free! Seemingly unobtainable in the u.s.
Pretty glad I was ignorant about them when they were around. I saw one in .22 mag available. Laminate stock and something called Titanium Ceracote. Looked really really good. Beer money champagne taste. Glad I missed them....

Yes, they have kind of evaporated here. Thank goodness they use CZ magazines. I just bought a laminated .22 WMR with the titanium Ceracote...may be the one you saw. I was intrigued by the action; nothing really like it. If it shoots, I will restock it into a nice sporter. If it doesn't, I will rebarrel it to .17 HMR with a lighter contour barrel and restock it into a lightweight sporter. I'm a little concerned about the Ceracote finish if/when I remove the original barrel, though.
I haven't received it yet, but I plan to post my impressions when I do.

action is built like a tank still can't work out why they have not brought it out in 17 is it wsm 3 locking lugs unlike most manufacturers .
22 is a good shooter moa with most ammo less if you give it what it likes the 17 is outstanding no problems at all shooting 1" at 150 on a really good day it will shoot an inch for 3 shots at 200 with its favourite ammo.

I was hoping Al The Infidel, from his super secret villain lair under Lake Superior, would be the next Lithgow rep in the US and maybe Canada, but alas he is too busy whacking Tubbies and walleyes

If you go to youtube and search for "dayattherange, Lithgow" you'll find a long list of videos the fellow has posted about his Lithgow rifle.
TBR...I've been waiting for someone like you to pick up one of these. I'd like to see a fellow with your skills screw a decent barrel onto the LA101 - It may surprise you!
My smith had no issues with the Cerakote when he re-barrelled mine - Not a mark on barrel or action.

Great to know. Hopefully it just shoots, and I won’t need to rebarrel…but I probably will, anyway, not necessarily because it doesn’t shoot well, more because I always think “What if?”

All of the LA101's I've personally shot have been accurate, consistent rifles. I'm aware of 5 which have been fitted with quality after market barrels and all have proved to shoot very well indeed.
The triggers can be improved with spring changes and some careful polishing of internals - A friend of mine has actually installed a 5018 in his!
My first Lithgow (laminated stock) has had the full treatment and I would have been disappointed if it didn't perform well. I bought a second rifle which is pretty much factory. My smith re-crowned it, worked the trigger and bedded it into a nice timber stock. The bolt has been head spaced for SK/Lapua and it gives away nothing to my 17XX Anschutz sporters.

Is Allan still on this forum he is a wealth of knowledge on these rifles he has modified one that shoots like a bench gun
In my experience most of the LA101's shoot like bench guns. Just a shame that the US appears to have problems sourcing supply. Rare for us to have access to goodies that are not sourced ex USA.

Yes, I'm still here despite having spent much of this year undergoing chemo for a cancer diagnosis!
This morning I'd planned to shoot a target with the "up-graded" Lithgow in the hope that it may give TBR the incentive to tweak a US based LA101. However, we had a really gusty & twitchy 15-20 KPH wind blowing at the range and given the shortage of decent SK/Lapua these days, I wasn't prepared to waste any A$27.00 a packet ammo.
I did shoot the attached target at 50 metres with the factory gun - Two of the misses were a clean bore shot and a damaged round - The rest are on me and the conditions. Four lot numbers of SK Long Range. The laminated stocked rifle will routinely clean a target like this given good ammo & conditions.

Couple of years ago I was able to get a left hand LA101 , polymer stock and black ceracote. The basic action is built like a tank although I wasn't impressed with the plastic bolt shroud and bolt knob which were replaced with metal parts from Lumley. The rifle shots match ammo -Eley Tenex - very well and is comparable to my Anschutz 1416L and my Remington 40X Sporter. We have a Canadian distributor and parts don't seem to be a problem but I am very surprised there is no distributor in the US. Adam Troy what is that stock/chassis that your rifle is in? All in all I feel that the Lithgow LA 101 is a very under rated rifle and deserves more attention.
