Let's talk sights

I am working on a 513T build and I am in need of some help/opinions as to sights. The rifle is a Sep '43, military finish. The front sight is not cut for a dove tail and the barrel is not D&Ted. I do not have the rear sight base as yet. So here is my question. Excluding the original Redfield sight set up, what combination of currently manufactured sights can be used? What types have you used?
Thanks,
Ralph

Really only two basic choices for rear sights among current production sights:

1. The Williams Target Foolproof, low or high; and

2. The Lyman 90 MJT.

The Williams Target Foolproof High or the Lyman 90 MJT will work better with a globe sight mounted on a screw-in base. Contact Steve Earle products for a front sight base.

The Williams Target Foolproof Low will work with the oem Remington ramp sight.

Least expensive would be a Williams low rear from the CMP estore and an oem ramp sight from Numrich (e-gunparts).

Play your cards right and the shipping from Numrich will be free. :bthumb:

Thanks edlmann, but I did not see the Target Foolproof on the Williams web site as being available for the 513T. They list the 5D but I need (want) target knobs.
I would like to use a front globe type. The 90MJT looks nice but I do not know which base to get. Will the Lyman globe 93 and the Steve Earle base be a good match with the 90MJT?
Thanks again,
Ralph
Those Remington front ramps are some kind of ug-lay. But, they're worth it for just the screws alone.

Here's another option for you, Chief:

I have a Lyman 77 Front Target sight that is made for the 513T. It has the base, the screws, the inserts, AND the box. As new, no evidence of ever being installed. Pics below. I was saving this for my next 513T, but kinda losing interest, so: $80 shipped to you if interested.

The base is A= .167" and the 77R height is .451". So if my calculations are correct, when installed, the center of the globe aperture will be .618" from the top of the barrel surface.

Williams' web site is not a thing of organizational beauty.

Click here to download the 2012 catalog. The target sights and bases are on pages 14 & 15.

Front sight base or rear sight base?

Sorry, Rear sight base. The Lyman instructions list a 510 base but say it is available from Williams. I guess it is in the aforementioned catalog.
