Here's one of mine. All KIDD, except for the stock :) -- an 18" LW barrel (Threaded), two-stage trigger, and scalloped bolt. All in a Ruger Walnut carbine stock heavily massaged by Evan Koch (ek-marlin-424). Evan also did the grip cap, and Chaser did his wonder-polish on the buttplate. It now wears a Leupold VX-2 6-18x40 AO Fine Duplex

Nice looking rifle. ;)

Question: Dose it have the barrel screwed into the receiver vs, slip fit like mine in post #9?
The reason I'm asking is I've have never seen one in the McMillan stock the wasn't an original Supergrade.
However your barrel is threaded for a can, and has a barrel stamping near the receiver that mine dose not.
I quess I'm looking for a bit of history of your rifle.

Back a number of years ago... I was enchanted by the 22.. embarked on an educational research gleaned by the knowledge base of the RFC forum...introduced by a fellow RFC member and a local gunsmith - PhilF; to the marvels of [email protected], Brimstone Gunsmithing, and Tony Kidd.

Ultimately led me to my own Kidd Supergrade.

Now am the conservator of Phil's SG. (click to zoom)

Hi Smooth,
This is a "new" Supergrade, barrel not threaded into receiver. This stock was available from McMillan as a 10-22 competition stock. This particular one is painted by McMillan in Desert Camo. I have always admired your Supergrade and the shooting you have done with it.

What an amazing group of Kidd rear tang wood stocked rifles! Mine being in the KRG Bravo is very functional but yours are beyond beautiful. Find me a wood stock with rear tang PLEASE!
Thanks for the compliment, most are DIY. Azguy did the Walnut ones.
Believe it or not, the Raptor stocks are the most difficult. There's a "Wrist screw" buried at the back of the receiver inlet that angles down into the pistol grip. That screw must be removed, shortened, it's hole countersunk deeper to bury the head under the tang & escutcheon inlet, and then the countersink hole creates another void that has to be filled when the tang is bedded.

If you're patient & reasonably proficient with tools, you can do it yourself. Pick up an OEM take off stock or two on EBay for practice.
Choose a wood stock you want, and inlet & bed it for a pillar & rear tang yourself.

Here's some step by step sticky threads with pics-

The most accurate rimfire I've owned. Bore-scoped the unfired barrel and was shocked to see a near mirror finish from breech to muzzle. Very nice. The only drawback is affording premium ammo to match the quality of the rifle. One lot of 5 Eley Semi-auto Benchrest Precision made me giggle at the tight groups.

Same for me.
I inserted my Hawkeye bore scope into the barrel with the light turned all the way up (normal setting for all of my other barrels) and I couldn't see anything because of the glare.
Nice to know that KIDD is Still lapping them to that level.

When I bore scoped the new barrel it was astonishing. Capturing the photo from video really degraded the appearance you see. I have safed the rifle for the winter but deep cleaned beforehand. It's still really nice after 1200 rounds but 6 o'clock pitting is starting to make itself known. Perishable. I've started saving for a replacement (maybe an 18 incher). Hopefully by spring Center-x may be easier to find at a sane price.

My KIDD had 14,801 rounds down the pipe when I shot that target.
So.........if you just want a new barrel, of course go for it, but I believe you're a ways off from needing one.;)
