Slapped a Boyd’s Thumbhole on a 28 inch CZ 457 Jaguar with the 28 inch barrel for forward barrel weight.

The gun comes out to 8.4 pounds, 9.4 with the sling hanging off of it. I know it’s a standard class gun in this stock but I’m just concerned with getting back on my feet shooting after a long layoff. I’ll find an American stock eventually to be Hunter legal.

Miraculously the OEM trigger adjusted down to 2 pounds and the first shots down the unseasoned barrel shot about 1 MOA. No doubt it’ll get better with finding the ammo lot it likes and seasoning the barrel.

1 lb sling?! Someone isn't * whipped. My sens of humor is hit or miss...

Welcome back to the sport! I just ordered a Jaguar for the Sporter Rifle day after Nationals at Ridgway. Excited.

Just to be a debbie downer, 26" barrel for hunter, but that stock is beautiful.

Haha yeah it’s a National Match 1907 sling by Hollis Slings, so it’s fat and sturdy leather. I’m def not using it for a woods walk lol. I’ll use it for shooting a loop sling for positional shooting

I’ve always wondered if hanging a heavy sling off the rifle will aid in stability or not, probably just gas out my girly arms haha

Welp! Looks like I need an American!
Thankfully they won’t be discontinuing those anytime soon.
Or I go the rest of the way and get a 4 ounce trigger.

lol I always miss one key detail, I thought the rule was 30 inches but that must be for standard class. Either way I wanted a gun that I could swaparound optics with a stock that I could also shoot from prone. I’m just ready to have fun for now. I’ll worry about being Hunter class legal later.

Unfortunate silhouette rules are stupid and pointless...

Lol now I’m looking for that mystical 24 inch MTR bull barrel since I’m already here for standard class. Let’s take this all the wayyyy

I am in the camp of using a dedicated standard rifle as well. I have a rebarreled 54.18msr that was originally set up for hunter class, but I reduced the trigger pull down to 1lb 5oz and use it as a standard only class rifle. So I'd say go for it, set that machine up to your liking so that you can shoot your best scores possible and work on a separate hunting rifle set up down the road. Good luck and happy shooting.
I'm using one rifle for both but with the provision to add 2# of lead if I want for standard rifle.
I'd rather keep all my triggers feeling similar including my PRS rifle. So everything is 2 stage and 2#.
Keeping everything similar in feel is definetly sound logic. I've been on both sides of this fence over the years and currently am sitting on the side of getting my highest possible score in standard, before I can no longer hold on target.
I don't want to slack too much in hunter though, thats why I opted for 1lb 5oz trigger pull, not too difficult to adjust to the 2lb trigger....

Just acquired this gorgeous pristine rifle. 100th Anniversary. It is possible you may never see one in this condition again. I'm shocked I found one! Both triggers, front sights, eye cups! The other is a BSA Martini International MK II

Just got it...I waited so long to find out they canceled my order by accident and shipped it out ASAP, so I'm happy in the end!
Wood is ok, but I do like the overall feel of the rifle. Happy with the trigger and sights. Love the idea I don’t have to touch a thing and can do a club/22 sporter silhouette match.

My friend Benny just bought one of those cz jaguars, nice looking rifle. Probably the hot tip for the new sporter class silhouette matches.

I’m glad to learn the seasoned silhouette shooters are interested in the new 22 Open Sight Sporter Match.
Please remember before this becomes another equipment race, the other aspect is to bring in new shooters to silhouette at an affordable cost.No expensive scope, ammo, shooting coat to get started.

I think this game will be safe. Really don't think most offhand games can be bought. While there are some hacks that can make it easier to shoot a good score, the best shooter will generally win no matter what... after all it's 90% the Indian in this game.

With this new match ,it’s important to explain to the new entry shooter how it’s not just a match to be Top Dog.We must stress to the newbie how the classification process works,so they know they are only shooting against people of similar abilities and equipment, and you work up from that starting point.

I agree to a point. I think it's more important to ingrain in to new shooters heads that it's only about yourself and having fun. You Either like silhouette and the people or your don't. Nobody else on the line matters. Every time I go to a match I ALWAYS hear a group of people having a discussion about how x has this rifle and I only have what my father passed down to me and I shot a 1st place score etc...I don't get it, as long as your rifle works like it should...it's about the shooter! Shoot for yourself and the prizes are a bonus and door prizes are icing on the cake!

Good fitting stocks are impossible to get on a factory rifle for "regular" silhouette.

But there are quite a few which will work rather well with iron sights. Especially the European hogsback type like CZ is making.

Getting a good stock is probably the #1 issue facing new silhouette shooters.

Those "hog back" stock look like they would be "butt heavy", is the way they are, or am I off my rocker?
