This maybe a textbook starter rig. Cheaper than Dirt had it for $350, free ship. I can't find any real flaws, everything is solid and smooth enough. There was next to no trigger creep and removing the adjusting nut took the pull down to 2.25lbs. For now there's a $210 Hawke 6 X 24 mil-dot scope sitting atop.

Using Remington/Eley Club Match it shot 5/8" 5 shot groups at 50yds. My other 22, a Savage MarkII, shoots 7/8" groups for comparison. I love the hogback stock. (edit: 2 weeks later I'm happy to report 5/8" average groups in calm wind conditions.)

My 1st match is tomorrow over at Chattanooga (June 22).
Cute cat :p lol. Nice gun too though.

Still trying to get used to it... I'm the 3rd owner and it is really accurate. Right now I am playing catch up to it...

Why this particular scope mounting? Why not a traditional two-ring set-up? Looks like you've got plenty of room for it.

Congratulations on your new rifle.

I plan on getting a Talley custom 2 ring setup. The main reason is that this one piece combo has a .007" drop comp so it is higher in the back. The sole purpose is weight and allowing my FX3 25X get out to 100M for the Borrego.

Mark,

You have a very nice spotting scope; better than mine.

We should take yours to Nationals!

Nice rifle. :bthumb:
On another note, I thought you got the appropriate compensation with the mount turned the "other way".
Well...

I decided to go back to the VX2 6-18. It is .2 oz lighter and I can hold steadier with it. would have been nice to go up 20, but 18 is good enough. The 25X Leupold is nice, but it is better on a bench than offhand, IMO.

Regardless the drop compensated rings are great, but don't need them with this scope. I guess the thing is at least I have them.

Man, that's cool! Outstanding paint scheme.
I seem to remember seeing that rifle at the Whittington Center this past summer.

Great looking rifle!

Nah, Sportsman's warehouse carried those for a while!;)

You certainly have some wonderful pistols! Do you like the BF from EABCo? How is the trigger? There is a used 1 on Steelchickens, but they have not registered me yet.
Are you a member on that forum?

Thanks!

I do like the BF. Mine was re-barreled by Ralph Bond and he may have worked on the trigger. It was originally built for another silhouette shooter and I got it back in 2005. Very accurate, the trigger is crisp and fairly light, maybe about 10 ounces? Never measured it. Here's some Eley Standard shot at the .22 swingers one day at 50-75 and 100 yards (I don't test rimfire ammo or practice at 25 yards), with iron sights, creedmore.

The BF is known for having a weak extractor, so you wouldn't want to really push any load in a centerfire one. Mine, I don't know about others, also has a very light firing pin indent on the rimfire cases. Some types of ammo may get misfires, but this one has been totally misfire-free with Eley and RWS ammo.

When hand-feeding the rounds you have a rather large gap between the rear of the frame rails and the rim of the chamber, the space needed for the falling block and trigger, which can make it a little slower to load for subsequent shots. With a scope mounted, there wouldn't be a lot of room there.

You can see how much the distance is by looking at the top of the frame rail, the lower section next to the block and hammer.

There is a tool, which is spring loaded and about 10" long, that will hold 5 rimfire rounds, that makes it super easy to load the chamber...the same tool that was made for the MOA falling block pistol.

No, sorry, I have visited that site on occasion, but am not a member.

P.S. More to add to this, working on it now.

A couple of my favorites

Here are my favorites. Maple and Walnut(The King). Blue marble fiberglass, pretty lightweight(under 4LBS without Hubble size scope).
