STOCK 238 PEAR WOOD SPORTER
I started a new stock this week. The wood for this build is from a big pear tree I cut down about six years ago. I was wanting a different color wood for the nosecap, so it will be a piece of scrap laminate from a Boyd’s blank. This is gonna be an unusual build for me. Don’t know a lot about the pear wood.

I cut out the stock shape this morning. I’ll probably use a piece of the dark laminate wood as a grip cap, just haven’t got that far yet.

I got the grip cap glued on and installed the butt pad.

It’s a nice do here today, thought I would do a little sanding and shaping. Looks like a small blemish is showing up in the grip area. Hope it doesn’t get sanded out, as shape the stock.

Here’s some pictures after some rough sanding and shaping. I have noticed pear wood will get hot and burn very easily.
