Well, it's official, this is the larget turnout ever for one of my funshoots :t :t
I hope you enjoyed it!!!!

I'd like to give special thanks to the shooters who helped me distribute targets to the new shooters that needed them. There were 10 or so people that requested targets and to my knowledge they ALL got some.
Folks that are willing to go the extra mile like that make running the funshoot a LOT easier for me every month. I'd name names, but I'm afraid I might forget someone :eek: (Getting old is the pits) You know who you are and the people you sent the targets do too. You have my sincerest gratitude :) THANK YOU!!!!!

Paul, you done well. Great idea by the way. Sorry I couldn't participate. But I do enjoy watching the scores. It's great to have a good turn-out that you had. It just goes to show that new ideas will bring in new shooters.

It was a great idea. I wanted to shoot it, but I have only two boxes of M2 ammo left at the moment, and I'd already spent my ammo budget for the month. I would have probably stunk anyways, but it would have been nice to have tried, if only for comparisons sake. Keep up the great funshoots KP, you've always got some entertaining ideas. :t

It's getting tougher as time goes on. You mentioned you would have probably stunk in it... you notice MY stellar score :confused:
Oh well, life goes on... and for now so does the funshoot :)

Data from 28 entries with 8 scores from the .17s (HMR & M2); 16 entries with .22LR, and 4 from the .22WMR.

Closer than I would have guessed at 50 yards. The usual cautions of small sample size and unequal cell numbers apply. At 25 yards, each .22WMR shooter scored 8x's. :) First time I've ever had a SD of 0 from real data!

Here's the easy to read version, with only averages of score and x-count.

------------25 yd--------50 yd-----------100yd
.17-------235.5,5.7-----228.9, 3.6------180.6, 2.1
.22LR---- 245.2,10.1----230.1, 4.3------171.0, .5
.22WMR-- 243.2,8.0-----226.5, 3.7------171.0, 2.0

Here's the version with SDs in it.

M= arithmetic mean (average)
SD = std deviation
.17s [email protected], [email protected]
M=235.5, 5.7
SD= 9.8, 4.9

.22s [email protected], [email protected]
M= 245.2, 10.1
SD=7.7, 5.5

.22 WMR [email protected], [email protected]
M= 243.2, 8
SD=6.9, 0.0

.17s [email protected], [email protected]
M= 228.9, 3.6
SD= 9.5, 3.8

.22LR [email protected], [email protected]
M=230.1, 4.3
SD= 14.9, 4.1

.22 WMR [email protected], [email protected]
M= 226.5, 3.7
SD=16.6,4.3

.17s [email protected], [email protected]
M= 180.6, 2.1
SD= 41.4, 3.1

.22LR [email protected], [email protected]
M= 171.0, .5
SD= 29.7, .8

.22 WMR [email protected], [email protected]
M= 171.0, 2.0
SD=29.7, 4.0

Interesting data Ben. It just goes to show how good all of the rimfires are.

Congrats to all who joined in on the fun. A special congrats to Chief Dave for the highest score and gunner243 for the amazing X count with a 17 cal. I sure would like to hear the details with pictures of your rifles. Way to go guys :t

Also thanks to Paul for the great idea.

Chum CD sent me a pic of his rifle... if he gives me his ok I'll post it....
Looks as IMPRESSIVE as it shoots. At least with a particular older (and claiming to be blind) ***** behind the trigger :D

Ben thanks for doing all the math (that I don't comprehend) I think it's fun to see that at the extreme ranges there was roughly a 10 pt difference between the 17 & 22LR. Plus for the 22 @ 25 and plus for the 17 @ 100. 50's about as even as it gets in that type of math with irregular numbers of scores per caliber :D (Ok so I do comprehend it a little, I just don't know the formulae needed to calculate it)

So did CD ever share what ammo he used and his technique for target acquisition (spelling?)?
