I have a 597HB 22mag with 8 metal mags..my friend would like to trade me a 10/22T new in box with a Volq. cantilever scope mount...Is this a good trade?

To be honest, I'd trade in a heartbeat. You open up a whole new world of possibilities with a 10/22. Considering they shoot pretty well out of the box with the right ammo. And if you send the barrel to CPC for his custom chambering job, it'll shoot even better! Custom parts abound for 10/22s. You can leave it as is or go crazy! What ever trips yer trigger! and you start out with a great gun, laminate stock, bull barrel (hammer forged) and a match chamber to boot. You dont even need a volq hammer due to the lower trigger pull either

ALRIGHT! You won't regret it. That 10/22 is a shooter right out of the box. But with a little TLC, its a tack driver. Now for the fun part. Buy a bunch of different ammo and plan on a long day at the range shooting groups to find out what it likes. Heres a few to try.
