"Models 881 & 983 Part# 505327" from marlin. I talked to two different people at marlin, one said it wouldn't fit my 981T, one said it would. We'll see when it gets here! Anyone try this before?
The newer Marlins like the 925 have an action screw which runs through the front trigger guard opening and anchors the action to the stock along with the traditional barrel screw.
On the older Marlins there was simply a wood screw there and the entire rifle was held to the stock only by the barrel attachment point.
So , if you have an older Marlin you might have to fill in the drilled "hole" in order to use the wood screw.
Any updates yet? Wish Marlin would just make the 981T with a wooden stock to begin with...a stainless version might be kinda nice too.
