Been looking for one on and off for a year.
Didn't want to go the web route, wanted to get my hands on it and make sure I was happy with QC.

Work at a Farm Box store in my area part time on the Gun Counter.
Was sharing with the gun clerk that I was looking for one
He called out sometime later in the day. He was laughing, one had come in that afternoon.

Looked it over and by the next day I worked it was coming home.
Plain good straight grained wood, metal work is good. Lever and trigger smooth
GTG overall

Shot it Sunday after church just 50-60 rounds to get a basic sight in.
Used Federal bulk pack HP's from 5-6 years ago.
Realized the first trip out that I need different sights
Could hold 9-10 ring at 50 ft on a 50ft small bore target off hand
But not not really see the front sight clearly on most shots.
Shot another 100 or so Monday.

Henry makes a Dovetail mount for a red dot but astatically don't want that look.
Found several peeps and I think the Dawson precision front sight is my choice so far.
Dawson's FO rod is .040 vs. HiViz's being .080
General thought is front sight has to be .040 to .060 higher for the peep sight

Trigger is good out of the box and was going to polish it and put a lighter spring on it
But
After shooting it again Monday I'm thinking it will be fine as a small game gun/Plinker.
Which is what I bought it for.
Didn't do pics cause it is what it is, nothing special Henry
It's special to me though!!!!!

Marble Bullseye. I have one on my H001 but I did not just drive it in. I thinned the dovetail to a sliding fit then drilled and tapped it for a set screw same as on the Henry sight. Also drilled and tapped the sight arm and got rid of the ladder. Midway has them

Here are the sights I put on my Henry. I didn't want to put an optic on it so I went with these. A Williams TKrear sight with a Merit adjustable aperture and a Lyman 17 front sight. I bought them from a member here, but they are still available.

The front has a very thin fiber optic rod, but is interchangeable with several different apertures.

I haven’t seen a fiber optic for a 17 before, is that a special insert?

I think it must be, I bought them from a member here who bought them from a guy who set his Henry up to shoot silhouette with irons, then couldn't see well enough to shoot irons.

It came with several extra apertures, but the fiber optic was installed when I got them.

Would a Williams FP-AG and a Lyman globe work on a Henry H001?

Well I made a command decision LOL
I ordered a Williams WGRS 54 rear (From what I've read I'll have to fit it some for the Henry groove)
And a HiViz front sight appox .004 higher.

Going t shoot it with just the rear on first and calculate how much higher the front needs to be prior to
fitting the new front sight.
Hopefully the new front will be high enough after the calucaltion etc
FWIW, IME when using a "normal" receiver sight on my H-001T Frontier, to achieve zero I've had to use a replacement front sight that was about 0.10" taller than the issue sight to accommodate the receiver sight's higher line-of-sight.

However, I was able to keep the issue front sight when I installed a Williams WM-96 peep sight - since it was a lot lower (line-of-sight) than the larger peep sights.

The Williams WM-96 sight was designed to replace the rear sight blade on a military Mauser rifle, and so req'd drilling a hole in the Williams sight's forward tang to accept a 6-48 screw to pass, then removing the H-001 receiver cover to D/T a single 6-48 hole in the top to mount the sight, and drilling a dimple in the top of the cover directly under the sight's elevation screw tip to prevent any sideways moving/pivoting under handling.

BTW, in a nod to Henry's excellent CS, when drifting the front sight on my H-001T Frontier, the forward magazine tube ring/holder snapped off it's base from the vibration - and when I called Henry to order a replacement (telling them how I messed up), they simply sent me a new ring, gratis.

Henry sells a fiber optic sight set that works well for $50. I like the factory sights, but my eyes don't.
I have a 24" added the hiviz sights with the williams rear .I Can reach out to 200 meter' s with elevation to get more with cci sv ammo .Also l have a 18" with the marbles bullseye sight .Get the short length so you get the elevation adjuster to get full adjustment or it will hit the receiver

Have you shot it at 200? Just curious what king of group you'd get with irons at that distance. Mine are set for 30 yds on golden boy, and 50 on frontier with red dot.
At my age 74 i like to hear the clang I can hit 1/5 scale silhouette swingers no problem 40,60,77,100 .meters .
I shake to bad to do it standing . I have a set of 4",3" ,2" swingers also

I'm currently on a dose of prednisone so my hands aren't very steady at the moment.

Looking for a Henry pump. I want to see it in person for the same reasons. Now I find out it's the sales guy behind the counter that are sucking up all the inventory. Bummer.

Rear sight came WGRS 54
Not quite sure how to make it fit.
Seem VERY small compared to the rail/Groove on the rifle

Using the standard Henry barrel mounted rear sight is difficult once your vision goes. For a huge improvement on a plinker I like the Skinner receiver cover mounted sight, specifically the one that fastens with screws vs. the clamp on type because it sets lower. You will need a taller front sight with either Skinner receiver cover mounted sight, but lower is always better so go with the drill and tap version. I don't recall how much higher a replacement front sight needs to be, and it depends on caliber and barrel length but I really like the Skinner Blued Steel Patridge style front sight. You can ship Skinner your receiver cover and the'll drill, tap and install the sight for something like $40-$50. Keep in mind this is not a competition sight where you would make frequent adjustments. It works best to set it for the distance you normally shoot, use holdover and Kentucky windage as needed, just like plinkers have done for decades. It my opinion it looks decent on a lever rifle, the fun factor and accuracy improvement is huge. Another tempting option that looks aesthetically pleasing on a lever rifle is a tang mounted Marble Arms tang sight. It lengthens the sight radius and looks traditional on a lever rifle but I could never get good consistency with the three I've owned.
