I just bought one. It looks nice, anyone know when they were made. I can't find any info about it. Called H&R and left them a message. It looks like a good first rifle for my friends son. Thanks, John

I'm not sure which model that is. Can you tell us a little more about it? Action type, stock, sights, Barrel length, etc. Maybe someone will come along that can tell you all about it.

Mushoot, according to the Gun Trader's Guide, the 865 was made 1949-86. NiB - $106, Ex - $85, Good - $58
They are basically a clone of Marlin's 80 and 780 series rifles, and should be good shooters.
