I have shot the MkII quite a bit. I have the 512 bull barrel. Trigger could use work, but a great platform to start from.

I also have a 5.5" Buck Mark, bull barrel and weaver rail. Trigger is excellent and accuracy is great.

Good luck.

I agree that the ruger is a fine choice, I also own a buckmark, Bullseye model, love it. You may want to consider this:

I talked to a very active indoor shooter and said the these are the best gun for the dollar fo this types of shooting.
Many adjustments in the triger grip and such, and not all that expensive at $400. They have features commonly found in 1000+ target pistols.. Anyway just my thoughts. Good luck with the league.

Bob, being in search of an all around decent 22lr. pistol myself, i have discovered the buckmark standard to be real bargin. grip angle is faverable for me - more like a 1911. slab sided bull barrel and decent sights.
I found one at the local gun show, 285.00, however, it had been dry fired. evedence of this was visable [12:00 on the breach face]. i had to pass. ill order one at the dealer this week and get one not handled.
good luck
You will not go wrong with one of the Ruger target models, they have two different grip angles, get your hands on them and see which one feels and points the best when aiming, a Clark trigger is a must if you start getting serious. In the league I shot in most everyone used scopes, another plus for the Ruger as some of the target models have their mounting system.
The 5.5" MKII is one of the greatest pistols ever produced. :)

If you have a 1911, check out Marvelprecision.com. The basic open sight unit with one magazine is $355.00. Reliable, accurate, versitile and fun.
Marvelprecision is good stuff...

If you have 1911... I meant to say, when you have 1911, you got to get one of this unit.

:D
how does that EAA compare in accuracy to a BuckMark or Ruger 5 1/2"
colt woodsman match target model

My colt woodsman, 1967 vintage, is a terrific shooter. It is the match target model with 6" bbl. Excellent sights and balance
Nodak,
The first time I fired one, I didnt think all that much of it. However after shooting one again, and seeing what they are cap of doing, I have second thoughts. Although not the best finish or best looking pistol, it can shoot. I can only offer that the last group from one I seen, fired by a local shooter, was a ragged hole, 25 yard indoor range, rest, etc etc.

So my opinion on them has changed but can only offer the above about its ability. sorry.

Target Pistol

Ruger is a good value and a good shooter.
Smith & Wesson Model 41 Excellent, but expensive.
Walther GSP Superb, but very expensive.
with the GSP you can convert to center-fire and they now also have a .22 rimfire rifle conversion.
Hammerli SP20 is in same class as the GSP

Get a Ruger and have some fun. You can always upgrade.

It's a bit more pricey...but a nice gun.

and easy to get good magazines for
I was waiting on that! It was the only one left. You are right, it is a great gun. Still like my KMK512.:D
what price range do the ruger's sell for ? and how about High Standard ? I borrowed another shooters gun last night and it was awesome how much do they sell for ?

Thanks

That's a nice looking pistol, Slingshot. I'm a S&W afficionado and I'd never heard of a model 46. Is it just a shorter barrel than the 41, or what is the difference? I'll give you $100 for it so's you can say you made a profit.
S&W 46

Slingshot,
You're right the Model 46 is a dandy. S&W only made 4000.
I have question. Of the five magazines I have for my Model 41, one has an orange colored follower and holds 12 rounds rather than 10. I always assumed it is a Model 46 magazine.
Are the magazines for your Model 46 12 rounders?
Thanks in advance,
Max
High Standard

Bob,
Here's the High Standard link:
http://www.highstandard.com/
MSRP: $600-$1200
I don't have any experience with the new pistols but have owned a Victor and a Citation Military. Both were made by the original High Standard Company. They were excellent shooters.

High Standard is highly regarded in BULLSEYE circles, as well as the S&W 41, and Hammerli.

As for the HS prices, ya gotta shop around! deals can be had. I got a SuperMatic Citation (107 series) with Herrit grips, and a PDP2 for 400 bucks from another shooter at the club.

They break down in 4 seconds flat. Really. Barrel disengages with a push button on the front of the frame, then the slide comes right out. Makes cleanimg and on the "line" prep a cake walk. I have a Buckmark that is a royal pain in the behind to diassemble compared to the High Standard.

If you do go for an HS, be sure its an ORIGINAL, not one of the junk ones made when the company traded hands. Stay away from the them. The quality changed alot.

....don't forget to get TWO magazines, as you'll need them for the matches.

~Think 10X !~
PS:

The High Standards also come with an adjustable trigger and an over travel screw :)
