Front sight for threaded 10/22 take down

875 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  jeepwm69
Hello!

I bought a 10/22 takedown with a silencer. This means that the front sight was removed when threading the barrel to accept a silencer.

Do some of you know if its possible to bay a new front sight that fits my rifle some where?

All the best from Hans

should have purchased one with the factory threaded barrel, they still come with the sights installed

don't know where you can get any type of slip over for the spotter weight barrels..may have to buy some universal ramp front sight of the correct height, and either have the barrel d&t for screws, or have it silver soldered on...talk to whomever you"re having do the work about specifics

Thank you for your answer!

I was hoping for something I could fix my self.

unfortunately, without knowing the dimensions of what's left of the barrel, we can't tell you if something will be a slip fit or not

but you can fix it yourself... by buying a threaded barrel with sights

Ruger barrels
blued...$200

stainless..$220

you can also check gun broker, S&P Outfitters, or the trading post here, and see if you can dig up a new take off or slightly used one for less money than a new one

of if you want to go aftermarket TI has threaded TD barrels with litepipe sights installed..polished blued $160 (in stock)..SS $165 (BO)...which is a bargain compared to the Ruger factory barrels

Of course, the TI barrel, like the factory Ruger, is out of stock.

And the factory barrel comes with the plunger locking assembly, while the TI does not.

If you wanted to switch back and forth between two barrels, you'd have to buy a second plunger assembly.

Honestly if the TI barrel were in stock, I'd probably grab one and cancel the factory barrel I have on backorder with Ruger, but since both are out of stock, I"ll leave my order in place.

Kinda sad since I got my TD for $184 at Walmart and had to pay more than that for a barrel.....lol
Time to add a base to the Receiver and install a Optic ;) :bthumb:

you can get a Ruger latch from S&P for $50..
or you can pick up a custom one off Amazon for $40 shipped..and it even comes with a free bottle opener :D

Adding a block gets it to about the same price as the factory barrel.

How are the TI barrels as far as quality goes? I have a couple of rimfire cans ordered and need to get some threaded barrels. Don't need target accuracy, but buying a TI threaded barrel won't cost me much more than having the factory barrels cut to 16", threaded, and crowned.

Are they better quality barrels than factory?
