Today for the first time I got to the range with my new LA 101 synthetic stock with a Weaver 36x scope attached. Put 100 rounds of Wolf Match Target through it.
This may become my favorite. Before I got used to the scope which I don't like except for the 36x magnification and got it settled down after cleaning the barrel it was not great. Then it came together for me and at 50 yards was at about 3/8 inch 5 shot groups which for me is great.
The trigger was different than other quality rifles I shoot. I would best describe the trigger pull as firm or solid and not a problem. It took no time to get used to. Other rifles have lighter triggers. The LA 101 is fine in its firmness.
The action is also what I would describe as solid rather than smooth which it also is. Not as smooth as others but fine anyway. Maybe after it gets a couple thousand rounds through it the smoothness will increase, but it is no problem. You might like the solid feel it has right out of the box. I do.
I got the synthetic because of the adjustable length of pull and my growing aversion to babying wood stocks to keep them unscratched. Others report the wood stock is more accurate, but I can't argue with my groups at all. I am not the best shot and 3/8 of an inch at 50 yards is very good for me.
I set this up as a bench rifle for now. It also comes up to the shoulder very nicely and with a different scope would be a great sporter. I don't hunt but if you do you no longer have an excuse for missing.
I liked it so much that I am waiting to get back to the range. The only thing I would do differently would be to have used detachable rings so that I could easily change scopes from a benchrest scope to something smaller. You will love the bolt lift.
The first few minutes I thought I made a mistake buying this rifle. After maybe 40 rounds downrange this might be the best rimfire I have.
You were smart to grab one while you could. Let me know if you enjoy it like I do.
Next I will buy an assortment of cheap 22 ammo and see if this is the dream rifle that shoots cheap stuff great. I doubt if any rifle does that but I can hope. I hope you enjoy this rifle as much as I am doing. It might be the best money I have spent on a rifle in a long time. ALmost forgot - the magazine had no problems as reported in earlier ones and if your does the repair method (easy) is on the Lithgow site or just buy a CZ magazine.
