Failures to fire with newer M4-22 elite plus Ergo ambi selector

I have a newer M4-22 elite (serial > 20k, bought July 2022). At the time, Resilient Arms had the Ergo ambi selectors on their site and said they were compatible with the current model Tippmann triggers. I installed an Ergo selector in the standard 90 degree position, and it functions correctly. But you can feel just a tiny bit of play in the selector when you flip it.

And the main issue: occasionally I'm getting failures to fire. This is with a variety of decent quality factory and bulk ammo (CCI mini-mags, Federal Automatch, SK Standard, etc). About maybe 1 round every couple magazines, I get a click and no bang. If I reload the rounds, they always fire so it's not the ammo. Given the fairly regular consistency that it's happening, I don't think it's an issue of how I'm loading the mags, I know about the need to properly tension the rounds loaded in the mag.

Is it possible the Ergo is interfering with the factory trigger? Or is this number of FTF's about "normal" for newer Tippmanns?

If you reload the rounds that did not fire, I presume you looked to see how the strike looked versus the others that did fire (look at the ejected shells).

When you reloaded these unfired rounds, it's not likely you'll be striking them in exactly the same spot, so if they ignite the 2nd try, either (a) the primer was 'off' for that round, or, (b) you had a light strike the first time, or, (c) something else, unlikely.

But your premise of 'if I reload the rounds, they always fire, so it's not the ammo' tells me that it probably WAS the ammo.
It's sure possible it could be the ammo; anything is possible. As for the ammo, it was purchased within the last year or two and kept in the house except for the bulk automatch stuff. So it's not old, and in good shape. If it was happening ONLY with the automatch, I'd be more suspicious because it's older and was kept in the garage for years. Also, I'm not seeing these frequent failures-to-fire using the SAME ammo in other 22's: a Kidd 10-22, bolt guns, a Ruger MK IV, etc. So that's why I was considering the option that the aftermarket safety is interfering with the trigger.

Would be interesting to hear how often other M4-22 owners get FTF's.
I have a newer one as well. Mine has the Elftman trigger and factory safety. I generally shoot CCI SV, Mini Mags or Tac 22.

As long as I keep it reasonably clean and lubed-whether clean or not, I rarely ever have any problems.

...same as Leadstacker. The two Tippmanns here were purchased because they had a reputation for going bang when I pull the trigger and except for some covid-period Automatch that was notorious for light primers, I don't think I've had any failures out of maybe 2500+ rounds. Mine likes CCI SV and TAC-22 the best, I'd say, yielding reliable MOA performance. Pick up and save a dozen or two of the shells from rounds that fired fine, and then save all the ones that don't, and then compare the rim impacts. If you're seeing light strikes, you have your answer. If the strikes are the same, then ... you also have your answer.

Good approach. I should've mentioned in my OP, I did inspect the rounds that didn't fire at the range, they did actually look like light firing pin strikes, not a normal indentation. That, plus the fact that I used multiple ammo types that fire fine in other rifles/pistols, is why I wondered if installing the Ergo ambi safety, with its small bit of play, was affecting the trigger. It's also worth noting, I did NOT have this issue before, with the factory trigger and safety. But I will use an ambi safety regardless. So if the Ergo doesn't work, I'll need to try the Timber Creek ones that Resilient currently is selling as compatible with Tippman.
