Ejector with slight bend?

1977 Views 13 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Spitdog
I just received a 10/22 carbine from a relative that hardly ever shot the gun. It was bought in the late 60’s. Today I was cleaning it up and noticed the extractor has a slight bend in it, just past where it sits in the designated slot. It didn’t look normal to me, my gut tells me this piece needs to be completely straight. Can someone confirm. Thanks

Correction: the part is the ejector that is bent.

You are correct, the extractor should be straight. Check the timing to be sure the slot aligns properly. You could just remove the claw to straighten and polish it but if it is an older gun I would just get an aftermarket replacement and spring. The aftermarket ones are always sharper and harder than the factory and improve extraction and ejection. You can pick one up off Amazon for $8-$10 and installation is very easy.
