Don’t buy!

I’m getting “back in stock” notices for primers daily from suppliers. I have several Rimfire projects I’m working on and have some small rifle primers waiting. So I’m not buying! I’m not enabling these suppliers to continue ridiculously high prices. I’m not making the same mistake as with 22lr ammo by buying to have at any price. Don’t buy and the price will come down.

I am seeing wildly varying prices for components including primers on this forum and other sites I have visited- including suppliers. Some guys have reported $75/1000 +/- and others have reported twice that price. A couple weeks ago we were at a gun show and primers were in the $175/1000 range in our area and powder was still in the $60/lb price range but slowly coming down as were the other components.
As supplies slowly start catching up to demand pricing will eventually come down IMO, but it may take a while as raw materials are price far above what they were a few years ago and a lot of those particular materials we need are going to the Ukraine effort and restocking our strategic stockpiles at the moment...

As always, patience is a virtue...

The prices in the emails have been generally $90 to $115 per 1000, typically small rifle primers. Patience, agreed.
The days of $30/1000 primers are long gone. I expect prices to settle in the $60/1000 range.
I am a Machinist and see metal prices daily. The cost is up across the board. All of that cost is put off on the consumer. It is the way of the world.

You do as you please and others can make their own decisions. I trust that most people who visit this site can make their own decisions based on their own needs, experience, and finances.

My crystal ball is broken but I’ll wait until $60 and go from there. Pricing appears to be “whatever the market will bear” philosophy. 22LR continues to fall in price below what some said it would ever get to again. Hoarding helped keep prices elevated and perhaps patience will help bring prices back down. To what level? Who knows? Not me. Not anyone.

Just a suggestion! Not “ordering” anyone. Trying to make a point. Lighten up. Take a breath before lashing out. Typical response from a small portion of readers. Don’t take offense. Be objective. Nobody is pushing anyone around mentally. If you’re feeling combative perhaps you should not partake of social media today. Just sayin’.

The situation now is why I spent a lot of money when our previous President was still in office. Regretted it at the time but it turned out to be a wise decision. I have enough rimfire ammo and centerfire reloading material to last for a very long time.

While there's no disputing the price increases, the metals price doesn't appear be the main driver. There's more going on as primers weigh only about a pound a brick or about 1 lb of metal in 1,000 primers. The price of brass is roughly $2 a pound (though that could be dated info, so lets say it's doubled). Even $4 a pound has to be inconsequential compared to other factors driving primer prices.
Makes me want to drag out the Ammo cans from under the bench and through away all the bricks of old $11.99 @ 1K primers. I didn’t horde them, I just bought them by the case. I didn’t even by primers yet in this century. I did buy powder when it was at $22.50 @ lb and that didn’t make me happy.
If people don’t pay the prices it will come down. You do have to factor in the value of the dollar.

If shooting 9mm ammo which I can get some CCI 124gr. for $200/1k now which is pretty darn good. I am well stocked with primers for the time being but one of my LGS has primers on sale for 70/1k for awhile and not many are buying it still.
OK gents, this one's gone far enough. Prices are high, we all know it and we all vote with our wallets. Buy or don't buy, no one else's business other than our own.
