The 10/22 and 96/22 barrels are interchangeable. the 96 LR barrel may have the extra extractor/guide notch though. I know the magnum barrels do have the extra notch.

Install just like any 10/22 barrel. I put a GM 96 Octagon barrel on a 10/22 this past winter and it works great. I probably haven't put 200rnds down the tube but will get around to shooting it sometime.
