I’m just curious. . .

How many of you have had issues with CZ 457 10 Round 22 LR Magazines OUT OF THE BOX.

My observations:
  • Magazine ”feels” noticeably different, less smooth when loading after 2-3 rounds. Almost like its binding.
  • If I can load 10 rounds it rattles when you shake it and there is no room to “press down” on the top round to “feel“ it is loaded to capacity.

I recently had a magazine ship with (2) followers and that was the reason it was binding. This was an obvious fix.

I tried taking them apart, depressing the magazine spring and holding it under tension through one of the cross holes, reinstalling the base and letting the spring go under tension to “slap” into place (process some people are having success with when using extensions). This worked on (1) of the magazines…. The other (3) are garbage… waiting to hear back from CZ / Vendor I bought them.

Sending the 3 crap ones back to Europtic. . .

CZ wanted me to send them via fedex (they provided a label) but the nearest FedEx/UPS is 45 minutes out of my way and I’d need a box as they came via USPS. They said AFTER they got them they’d send me replacements.

At this point the returns easier and I’ll roll the dice with magazines from somewhere else.

With all the issues some folks have had it may have been worth the trip to send them back to CZ; maybe they would identify and correct the issues in house, dunno.

The smooth sided ones that dont say 10 rounds on them have been an issue for me but only with extensions), the rest of issues similar were backward springs. I have 5 I like now 3 with extensions that definitely hold 12 reliably and two 10 left alone. I had issues but were based on spring position. I did have a backward follower once but that was PEBKAC it didnt arrive that way.

No issues, I have two 10 round and two 5 round mags. The only time I had a problem was when I tried one of the 2-3 round 3-D printed magazine extension thingies. they don't work!!!!!

I had three of the 10 rounders, all this past summer, sourced from different dealers, and I returned all three as none of them would feed.

I tried all the permutations of flipping the spring, the follower, standing on my left foot, et cetera.

No joy. Something is basically defective and there are a LOT of people reporting it.

All four of my 5 round mags work perfectly.

I want at least one larger cap mag but I will wait until I can get one that I know works. Without me having to re-manufacture it myself. Maybe buy it at a LGS where I can try it first or something.

I have 3 of the 10-rounders. Bought them a few months back when CZ had them on sale at a good price. I don’t use extensions and have had zero issues.
I bought about 18 mags during this sale. Only had trouble with 2 or 3 of them as far as sticking.

The springs were very strong in most of them, causing a feeding issue with the first couple rounds when fully loaded. After a lot of use they loosened up and all is well now. (y)

Just saying. - never had a single issue with older 452 metal mags either 5 or 10 round.

On the 457 junk, I have had to ever so slightly file the locking tab upwards until it snaps in properly. I have had to reverse 98% of the springs.

Mecgar or whoever makes them for CZ does a pitiful job.

I have metal mags for all my Brnos and CZs and that's quite a few. I do use the plastique craptastique at the range so if any light finger nicks them im not too upset, and in the field because if I lose one, who cares.

Personally with what you pay for one of these rifles I think it is absolutely disgusting but they don't come with metal magazines even a metal one would only have a commodity price of $5 if that

Just saying, I have a few of the 10-round polymer mags and have never had an issue. Also have a few of the 17 HMR ones and 4 of the 25 round 22 LR polymer mags with no issues.

I bought one of the metal mags early on "because metal is better" and it would always bind so I stuck with the polymer ones.

I have purchased 2, 10 round magazines for my 457 in 17 HMR in the past month and both have had the sam issue of not completely seating in the magazine well. I made both of them work by filing down the notch on the magazine that catches on the magazine catch. Quality control on these magazines is very sub-standard.
