A crack is not going to be dangerous to fire. It's just a sign of wear. All the stress is in the barrel. The reciever just guides the bolt back and fourth. rc
I beg to differ. There is stress in the receiver from the bolt slamming back and forth and next to your face at that. If there's no stress why do we put recoil buffers in the actions?
I bought this gun used, but the first thing I did was put a buffer in it. Only god knows how many rounds were put through it before me though. I got the gun in 2003 and it was made in 1993.
