How many coyote hunters are hanging around here? Im working on digitally mastering a few calling tapes, and I will need some people to field test them. The tapes are NOT finished as of right now, it will be at least another week before they are finished. Let me know if anybody wants to try them.

Ill let you know when they're finished Chief & Viper. Im recording
-cottontail distress/ baby cottontail distress
-turkey polt (good springtime call)
-kittens distress (might throw in full grown housecat on B side of this one)
-coyote challenge/ and locator
-grey fox pup in distress (my favorite)
I might record a jackrabbit too, but Im not sure.

Ive used the Lohmans and Johnny Stewart tapes & cd's before and Ive been less than impressed by their clarity. I figure if I can hear the hissing in the background of a tape at 10 yards then a coyote probably hears it at 100. These tapes should be extremely clear if all works out. Some will be digital recordings of live animals, some will be recordings of mouth calls. Either way I have confidence in them and hope to hear excellent reports :)

As far as buying them, Im not interested in a profit. I want testimony from other hunters who try them.

Sounds GREAT!

PJ (PastorJeff) might want a copy too.

After you finish, I'll probably try it out with him, anyway!

We'll definitely let you know how it works!!!!

Thanks Bud!!! :D

No problem :D

I need some opinions guys, I have a lot of different audio samples to put together and Ive been thinking of some more realistic "scenarios" for the calls. For example I was thinking of the sounds of trap chains, leaves being rustled and twigs breaking to simulate a trapped cat or fox. I was also considering an owl or dog attacking a rabbit.

whatcha think?

Yes! Yes! Yes!

I would love to try out your tapes. I have a farmer that has 4-5 confirmed dens that are active and he wants the buggers off his property. I just took a pic of one last night that he shot and it was BIG!

I would be very thankful to try out your tapes...would love to give you info back on how they work!

Thanks for the offer the long ranger! I really appreciate it!

That would be a big YES!

I wouldn't mind giving one a try here in Southern California. What Sound or Sounds do you have? I had to have a audio nut friend of mine clean up a tape a while back as well as adding level.

OK, just got off the phone, its off to work I go. The studio has been cleared out and made ready. Ill fill everybody in on the progress ASAP.

Pastor Jeff- stay away from the do not click here link J/K, glad you got a laugh out of it ;)
And I have to say, Im surprised how fast everybody is responding to this thread. Glad to see others are interested in the fine sport of coyote hunting. My parents thought I was a nut when I first told them about hunting for yotes. Now they think Im CRAZY because I spend so much time and money on it.

talk to you all tomarrow then,
Rob

Hey,

I would love to try one. Seems that we are overun with the things this year. We've killed four, in the last three weeks and need to kill more.

Let me know what I need to do as far as shipping and such.

Thanks!!!:D :D :t

Allright fellas, heres the first update. "Hurtin' Kittins" has been succesfully mastered and recorded! Only three hours work! Im happy to say that if every other 1/2 hour recording only takes 3 hours to master then everything will be just groovy.
I think this call is going to be effective, my friend who owns the studio also owns a cat, and the cat went nuts when we played the call through his audio system. Might be good for bobcat? Its kittens in distress with rustling leaves in the background to emphasise struggle.
Im still open to ideas on other calls if anybody has one.

We are too. It seems they're overpopulating here. As soon as the calls are all finished I will PM everybody interested in them and get mailing adresses. So speak up, the next week is the determining factor on who gets 'em.

I would like to use this forum to declare all out war on the coyote population of central Indiana. If any coyote are reading this you will receive only one warning. Move your families out of the area immediately or face grave consequences.

Despite Viper's success, I'm not finding many rabbits this season although I've yet to hunt my best spot where everyone who goes shoots their limit. The places where I normally get two or three have completely dried up. My started dog is getting discouraged. My pup is wondering why we go run around through the brush for hours at a time.

The only explanation I have is that coyotes are at fault. They must be killing all the rabbits out of season. Starting this coming Saturday I will put out a coyote trap line. I will also break out the caller and long range scent and the 22-250 and start hunting them. I can no longer stand idly by and watch as the rabbit hutning gets worse and worse, I must act now.

You coyote will no longer be safe responding to rabbit in distress cries. Every dirthole that smells like WidowMaker 800 you investigate could contain a trap. Fencerow crossings may have snares in them. You have brought this on yourselves.
