While closely looking over my new 10/22 TD I think it looks as though the receiver is a standard 10/22 receiver in that the receiver end take down mechanism removes with the same two screws that hold the barrels in on a non TD. If this is the case, a barrel, vee block, two screws of the proper length, and a stock and you would have a rifle configuration of your choice plus your TD capability if you wanted to return to that. Cool.

When I first saw close up pics of the new TD apart I wondered the same thing. Interesting possibilities....How is the portion that fits into the barrel hole removed though?

I was pondering this as well after looking at mine tonight. I'm betting that part is in the receiver under very high pressure...I'm sure someone will figure out how to get it out, but I guarantee it won't be easy. Think of how hard it is to get some barrels out, and then imagine trying to do it with this small of a part. I thought about a dowell or metal rod with a washer and nut on the end, and try to tap it out, similar to a slide hammer concept.

I don't own one (at least not yet) but I like the way you can slap it together and turn it 90 degrees and lock it up. If it ever gets loose you can adjust the screw. I had a 10/22 that I didn't tighten very much when I changed a barrel on it and I noticed (over time) the barrel moved a little. So I took it apart and found the 2 screws were loose so the V block wasn't puting pressure on the barrel. Retighten and all is well now. I don't have a torque wrench. How tight should those screws be?

Very possible, that's why I asked on this forum. Thought somebody could not have waited to tear their new gun apart and knew the answer, but I guess not yet.

if it was threaded... lets get on the phone with some manufactures and start cranking out some TD kits!

you never know with RFC but I know I wouldnt tear into my new TD if i got one... "you first"
