My son just bought this Colt .22 and showed it to me this morning. He didn't tell me, just said look in the case. At first glance I thought WOW, nice .38 Diamondback. Picked it up and realized it is a .22. I was in awe. Not allot gets me excited at my age anymore but this one did. It was made 1968 and is better than the pictures show. My wife has the same Colt in .38 and she told our son that someday he will have it as well so he can have a matched pair. Just thought to share a couple pictures.

That is one that I never owned. Had 6” 22 and 4” 38sp. Bought same day. Would have opted for the 4”
22 but they didn’t have one in stock at the time.

That’s beautiful! I’ve had the four and six inch versions, but I’ve never had the 2 1/2 inch. They were great guns.

Never heard of a 2&1/2 inch 2# diamondback ! Sure looks like a factory original not cut down. I didn’t know they ever made them this barrel length. Research and a colt historical letter are in order

The 2.5-inch Diamondback .22 is one of the scarcest Post-War Colts. The last one I saw sell brought $4500. There a few in nickel, and they are five-figure guns.
