So, nobody is bragging about their X counts ???. There are still a few more days to shoot for score, so I'm guessin' that some people are not confident with what they have in the bag.

Well, I'll get the ball rolling; shot a 242-9x! Anyone else?? GG

GG-Joe's got my scores for this month. I've got computer training all this week and won't have time to get to the range, so what I've done will have to do. You'll have to do better, or I'll beat you again.

I'm gettin' used to it. Now that Mike Desaire has that Turbo, the Anschutz brotherhood is learning the meaning of humility. :(

We aint givin' up, just learned that it's lonely being at the top for so long.

Now you and Mike can be the guys with targets on your backs. :D

Or will you, there are rumblings and bursts of bravado out of the Click Clack camps as of late. We'll see........

Chief says : Sir , Gordon Gauge = I finally broke down and
shot one (USBR printed target ) not correct size , figure
its either cheating (good or bad ) I have no idea.

The rudeness earlier from posts (MAD') inspired me to the
point (was gonna shoot somethimg).
just thought I would pass it along .
Done at 48 yds with a VQ clacl,clack,whack,17hmr.

regards to you GG - from ChiefDave

High demand for accuracy.

.177" - .100" = .077".

That small tolerance puts a big demand on the HUMMER. Centering each shot for an "x" is gona be TOUGH.

Could a miracle happen at 50 yards? We won't let em shoot at 25.

Over on the .17 caliber forum some of the guys wanted us to set up a 200 yard E-Mail Match for the Hummer. 25 yards would be WAY to easy. Only one Hummer score so far, and that from one of our own regular shooters.
--------------------
The first 50 yard HUMMER scores: December 2002.
--------------------
221-1x Todd Banks. Salum, New York (Renegade)
Marlin 17v. HUMMER Tasco Mag IV 6x24, @24x. Ammo? The only one.
Trigger spring replaced with Pentech pencil spring, @3lbs, Barrel freefloated. Harris bipod. Excuses? It was freaking cold out. Okay, somebody had to do it. Chief Dave could probably do better offhand than I did with my Marlin 17V. Anybody else gonna try it? How about some Maggit scores? Or someone with a better .17? Chief? Ski?

senior moment . . .

Cheez: I use to be able to do simple arithmatic in my head.

Must I now use a calculator?

Yup: I guess so.

I corrected the mistake, but where did you get .172"? Bore diameter? I used land diameter of .177". (Ahh: I think that's right)

Joe,

I got .172" from a post on here.
I just checked and Hornady lists their 25gr 17cal bullet as having a .172" diameter. I'm assuming that they used the same dia. in the rf that they do with the cf.
ChiefDave or one of the other 17HMR shooters can correct me if that asumption is in error.
Paul
Doesn't matter if it's .072 or .077" That's still a MUCH HIGHER level of accuracy than I am currently capable of. I'd be ECSTATIC if I could tell .005" difference:D

Hmmm . . .

I read somewhere that the NRA .17 caliber gauge has a flange diameter of .177".

Ahh: Here it is on the yellow paper in the plastic envelope the gauge came in.

.177 (R-701)

So: If the Hummer shooters use the NRA gauge they will get that extra .005".

Not much of a "gift" is it.

I'm guessing that gauge was made for air rifles and their .177" pellets.
Just a guess though.

Well . . .

That's actually only .0025".

The other .0025" is on the other side of the gauge flange.

Differents between the .224" and the .177" is .027". right?

Half of .027" is .0135": Right?

The .22 has a "plug" advantage of .0235". Right?

Someone check my numbers. I DID use a calculator this time.

Half of .027" is actually .0135..... :(

(but what's a few thou between friends :D :D )

the way I've got it figured is a fair advantage would be +5 just like on the 17, so the 22 plug guage should read .229" to be equally fair..:t

:D

Heck...I figure the edge of the bullet hole is still the edge, regardless of how big the hole in the center is :D :D

Logic should have it that since they shoot teenie weenie bullets, they should get teenie weenie scores, right? :t
