Champion barrels for $89, any good?

CDNN is advertising 18" blued bull barrels for $89, and fluted version for $99. looks like they have some stainless left as well. Not sure I need another barrel right now, but was wondering if any of you have experience with or insider knowledge of these barrels. They say "Champion manufacture" and claim Bentz match chambers. I know Champion is just a brand of (cheap) acessories and gun stuff, but who actually makes these barrels? The muzzle design is highly reminiscent of GM, but the finishing work seems a little poorer.

Are you a gambler? If so give it a try and let us know how it works out. I just keep coming back to the old saying... If it sounds too good to be true..............
I am just curious mainly. I am not really looking to buy more 10/22 barrels at the moment, because my girlfriend just found out that I got another Glock  I'd be in pretty big trouble if I bought any major gun parts right now...unless they were for her, and I wouldn't buy her an untried, bargain barrel :bthumb:

I suspect these are good for the money, but personally I would rather haunt the TPC for a used GM. Just wonderin'!
They have the 18" fluted barrels on sale for $89.99 right now.

Good price if they are shooters.
I'd spend a few $$ more & go with a Green Mountain barrel.
Yep, I would get a Federsen barrel for a bit more.
I believe the barrels available through CDNN are the same barrels Ruger uses on their target models. Either way I would recommend sending it to CPC to have it shoot to its full potential. Of course by the time you buy the barrel pay for shipping and then send it out and pay for shipping both ways, you may as well have just ordered a Feddersen barrel.

Why do you believe that?

They have the same specs and come in the same versions. I'm not 100% sure but when I tried to find out the make for my VLEH model .920 16 1/8" barrel those are the ones that kept popping up in my search. Whether there the same barrels or not they are very similar.

No they're not!

The only thing they have in common is they are both .920

The Champion is 18" with a bentz match chamber and the rifling is cut with a button that's pulled through the bore

Ruger is 16" or 20" with what they call a target chamber and the rifling is hammer-forged over a mandrel. The spiral pattern on the exterior of the barrel are hammer marks from when it's rifled.

Ruger makes their own barrels and I'd imagine Champion gets theirs made by the low bidder.
Hey guys, haven't posted much, but thought I'd throw in my 2¢. I got one of these, blue, fluted. Have only had it out twice. Was shooting it yesterday along with a GM. More accurate hands down. Same ammo, bags, houge stocks, triggers, etc. Only different optics. Only have about 100 rds though it, if it continues, I will order another.
Aczrad, were you shooting multiple ammos and the Champion was more accurate with each ammo, or shooting one brand of ammo? If you only shot one brand, it may have been the one that the Champion liked and the GM did not.
That's correct, maybe I was just lucky. 1 ammo, CCI 36HP Swamp People of all things. I have shot multiple different rounds through the GM. CCI and some old lot Remington game loads(!) Seem to be most accurate. Maybe I jumped the gun. I will do more extensive testing this spring. And I maybe I got lucky with this barrel. I'm pretty happy with it though.

I'm not sure if that pic will post, but it is at a range finder 103 yards with a swirling breeze. I'm not trying to win any competitions. 10 shot group. Take out a couple outliers and I couldn't be happier for an $89 barrel
Well we know that Champion didn't make those barrels. I hear the Shooters Ridge barrels they sell on eBay for about the same price shoot very well.
Shooters Ridge barrels

I purchased two Shooters Ridge barrels eight years ago. I had one threaded and the other is still in the original package. They do have bentz chambers and the one shoots very well. Maybe I just got lucky.
Doesn't appear those shooters ridge barrels are for sale anymore.

I'm debating between Champion, ER Shaw, and a Kidd ultra-light. Would love to have something that shoots consistently in the ballpark of .5".
Champion vs Kidd UL?

I have no experience with either of these two barrels. Just based on price alone, the Champion being less than half the price of the Kidd.... I would tend to think the quality would be like "apples and oranges". Just my .02.
