I tried the 50 grain GoldDot ammo again at 50 yards and couldn't even hit the sheet of paper.:( I only fired 10 rounds and from what I could tell they were all over the place. I even had one hit about 2 feet in front of the target, dust and dirt flew into the air. I am using a Marlin 882SSV rifle. Anybody else have these problems with their Marlin magnums?

I have 25 mn. Almost the same gun and 50 gr. bullets don't shoot worth a darn in my gun. They shoot a foot under at 25 yds. When my gun is sighted in with Supremes at 50 yds. They didn't group very well either. If your shots all over I'm betting the bullets are tumbling in the air.

Good outa mine!?

I shoot a Marlin 25 mn and mine really likes this load. Shooting around .80 at 50 yds. Going over a friends F-1 Chrony about 1425 fps on a 40 deg day at 6000 feet elevation. Use these to shoot 'yotes, and when I run out of TNT's, on P-dogs. My rifle has always liked this round. :) Works good on shots under 120 yards or so... after that it looks like they start to tumble. Maybe something to do with air density/resistance?

I've shot these 22wmr heavy weights in the 25mn.
@ 50 yards with decent accuracy, interesting "thwapp", don't think i'd want to be on the receiving end.
@ 75-80 yards they tend to drift about 1" on me right or left.
@ 100+ yards forget it, would not pull the trigger with these rounds loaded on anything over 50 ish yards.

just my 50 grain cents.

D*MN! After I read this thread.........

I purposely brought a few boxes of "Gold Dots" to the range, yesterday, to re-try them in my Volq. Magnum.......

I completely forgot about them!

Sorry guys!

I'll stick a "post-it" on my forehead, next time.

I remembered this weekend!

I was practicing our "On-line Matches" with the USBR target sheets @50yds......

I had the Volq. Magnum & Weaver T36 zero'ed for the Remington "Premiers" and I threw in a magazine full of "Gold Dots".

The group (9 shots) was 1" low & right, about the 5 o'clock position and the group (center - center) was 1/2".

7 shots "clover leafed" with two that opened the group. It was windy, 13mph.

Not too bad, actually.

I would be happy to get that half inch nine shot group with the GoldDots any day. I won't be using anymore until I buy a different magnum.

AK,

I don't know anything about those .22 Marlins.....I've been a "Volq." fan (barrels on Ruger 10/22 Mag and Volq. rifle).

The entire group, that I shot today, can be covered by a nickel.

My 30-30 Marlin does o.k.

Does the .22WMR Marlin have that "Micro-Groove" rifling?

How's it do with the 30gr CCI "TNT"?

They shoot great out of my 25MN. Same day as mentioned earlier shot three different 7 shot groups. Chrony averaged 2150 fps and largest group was .80 at 50 yards. Tended to group 5 in a little hole and have two fliers that opened it up. Hope this helps.

That was always my experiance with those "TNTs", also.

I always figured that it was me, the guy squeezing the trigger.

I sent a box of TNT's, from the case that I bought, to Chief Dave to try and he got the same results.

The "fliers" were still with-in "Minute of Skwerl" but, enough to ruin a good USBR Target score. (I was searching for the "perfect target ammo, at the time.)

I ended up buying those $19.00/box OSSI "Custom Varmints".

The TNT's shoot between a .5 and .75 inch group normally if I don't get any bad flyers. The rifle will do a little better with the Winchester Supreme's. I don't use the mag to much for target shooting, mostly a critter getter.:D It's more than accurate enouph for it's intended purpose. Gotta love the TNT's and Supreme's.:t

hmmmmm,

Ya know, I don't think I've ever sent any "Supremes" thru my Volq. Magnum.

All of my "experimenting" was with the Ruger w/Volq. barrel.

I go go and throw a few boxes of "Supremes" into the ammo box, before I forget!

Side note

A little off track here...Where do you buy your 22 wmr ammo from? Only had one place here in town that sold the TNT's and he didn't sell enough so discontinued stocking them. Looks like the cheapest I can find them online is at midsouth or nathces. Anywhere else?
