BX Trigger

I think I've (almost) convinced myself to "pull the trigger" on a Ruger BX. I've read a lot of posts on here. My problem is that I start getting excited and then someone will file a complaint on their experience and ruin the party for me. I guess I'm just too danged sensitive. Budget is definitely an issue here. Of course a Timney or a Kidd would be amazing but they're just not in the cards. Convince me why or why not I should open my already tight fist. Thanks in advance. Oh...and I love this forum. I'm learning a lot.

the biggest thing with the BX is the wild price differences that you'll run across

back when I could get the BX for $50 from Grabagun, I thought they were a great value..now that they go for ~$60-$70, I think that they are an OK value now...not great, but OK

the best combo for me was a BX trigger assembly in a Pike Arms alloy trigger guard, with it's built in overtravel stop...unfortunately, whoever it is that runs Pike Arms decided it was OK to double their prices during the pandemic...so Pike isn't getting anymore of my dollars until they come back to their senses

I bought a BX trigger and it was a lot better than the factory trigger. I didn't have a chance to try it first but they're packaged to try before you buy so try out as many as you can, some have lighter pull weights than others.

I really haven't heard/read about that many issues with the BX trigger frankly. Maybe I'm missing something, I dunno.

I'm sure if you had a problem, Ruger would make it right.

They are good triggers but a tier 2 trigger upgrade from Brimstone is better. Plus you'll get the auto bolt release.

I have a Ruger BX trigger that came installed in a rifle. So did my friend. I ended up replacing mine with a Kidd single stage, he put a Kidd 2 stage in his.

Don't get me wrong, the BX trigger isn't bad, and it is much better than the factory trigger. When they were cheaper, they were a decent option in my opinion.

With their current prices, I'd sent my trigger group to either Brimstone or CPC. I've not done business with either company yet, but they both have very good reputations regarding their work on 10/22s.
Just buy the kidd trigger kit and auto bolt release install it in your trigger housing and be done.

I have 4 BX triggers in rifles, I’ve had zero issues with them
I bought a BX trigger when they first came out, and I'm still using it in my 10/22. I agree that the issue isn't that it's a bad trigger... it's just that it's overpriced nowadays. But then again almost everything from Ruger is now.

Go somewhere that has a fair number of inventory, and test every one they have. Get the one that feels the best.

that’s my advise when buying a BX trigger.

If you are that tight fisted. Then just diy. Plenty of videos on utube and threads here on how. The only treason i ever bought a bx was to send it to brimstone. But that isn’t available anymore. For some unfathomable reason.
for diy i like the older metal trigger groups , cause they come with a metal trigger Blade. It just feels better than plastic.

I don’t feel undergunned with my BX, although mine does have the Tactical Innovations housing and blade purely for looks.

If you already have the STD Ruger trigger assembly, then you might want to check out the Volquartsen hammer kit on Ebay for $20 something shipped.

They're back up and running

Yes, the TI trigger housings are now very expensive——and now Cerakoted (yuck!) instead of their fabulous anodized finish.

Good thing I bought 4 when they were still somewhat affordable and anodized.

I searched on here a couple weeks ago, the only trigger job threads I found had no pictures. It seems the pictures that were there have evaporated.
YouTube might be a better bet, but the few I looked at were Bubba jobs.
Do you have any favorite threads or videos you could share a link to?
I put a BX trigger in my takedown and love it.
It’s the only 10/22 I own. But it’s far and away better than the factory trigger. My rifle is all polymer and stainless. So the polymer trigger group does not bother me in the least. It feels solid breaks clean and for my use is about the perfect weight of pull. Zero complaints wouldn’t change a thing except I think Ruger should sell it with the auto bolt release All ready done. But that was easy remedy.

I do also have a Jared trigger in a Savage A22. And although it’s a better trigger than the BX Idon’t think it is and extra $150 better.

Watch this
just take the trigger apart and polish all the contact surfaces, sear hammer disconnector. Also the hammer strut both sides and ends, and the hole the hammer rides ine the hole the return spring rides in the return spring cap/ detent thingy, the cut out in the safety the sear slides in , sides bottom backs etc . Put this spring kit in #18706 https://www.gunsprings.com/RUGER/10-22/cID2/mID52/dID225
Thanks, I’ll check that out. I have two sets of trigger parts, and two spare complete trigger groups to tinker with.
In the end I will likely put Kidd drop in trigger jobs in (already have a few), but I feel a need to try it myself.
Now that Brimstone is back, that would be my go-to unless going with a full Kidd trigger group.
