I was reading about the new Chargers from Lipsey's in the Charger section and they have a new, shorter than BX-25, 15rd magazine.

I checked at MidwayUSA which usually carries everything Ruger sells as far as parts and accessories and they are not there (yet). So then I checked shopruger.com and they don't show up there either.

It is very easy to understand why Ruger would only offer the Charger as a distributor exclusive.

However, it doesn't show up anywhere on Ruger.com that I could see and they usually list all the distributor exclusives from what I can tell.

What I can't understand is why they would put out a new 10/22 magazine and not list it or distribute to normal Ruger parts retailers.

Anyway, I think they are a VERY good idea. I know I will buy at least two when they are readily available at a good price.

I am thinking around $18.95 from someone like MidwayUSA.

I really like the original 10rd mags best but I also find the BX-25 a lot easier to carry and change when standing in the field and having to carry/hold the gun etc.

I also find the BX-25 a bit cumbersome when carrying the rifle on a sling.

Seems like the BX-15 would be a great all around convenience.

What do you guys think?

About the BX-15 that is.

I hope it is not some kind of hoax!

I think that is typical retail website error/typo.

You can see from the link to Ruger that the 1rd rotary-style mag is a BX-1-1 and not a BX-11

http://shopruger.com/22-Caliber-1-Round-Rotary-Magazine/productinfo/90344/

It should be BX1-5. That is a BX1 (Ruger's nomenclature for the 10rd rotary mag) limited to hold only 5rds.

Ruger neglected to label it as such in their product description but if you follow the logic that is a BX-1-5.

The BX-15 shown in the 15rd Charger is a shorter 15rd version of the same type/style (very different from BX-1 rotary) 25rd BX-25.

If it is hoax they did a fine job of it and the publicity may lead to the real deal.

I think it is for real.

Surprised they are not already available for the 10/22 rifles tho.

We will know soon enough. :D

You are confused as to what was being referred to as mislabeled. I was talking about what some retailer had mistakenly labeled the 5rd version of the BX-1 as a BX-15 instead of a BX-1-5.

The mags were not on the website when I started this thread.

I didn't think it was a hoax but at the same time I wasn't sure since Ruger hadn't put them up yet. If they did I couldn't find it and I looked twice.

I will bet that the will sell for the amount I said at MidwayUSA before too long. Probably not when new but later on they will be available for $20 or less.

The same $68 for two from Ruger delivered now will be three delivered from MidwayUSA before long.

Never could understand why shopruger has lousy prices. My wife got a 20% off coupon with her 10/22, and it was still cheaper to buy a bx25 through midway!
It is so that the retail stores who buy from them in bulk like MidwayUSA can in turn sell them to you for a price well below Ruger.com. Their overall sales would plummit if they started competing on price with all the retail outlets. It is standard business practice for manufacturers. Some offer direct sales at full MSRP for those who can't find a store or whatever but mostly to set the stage for their wholesale customers to succeed by selling well below MSRP.
