BUG OUT MICRO ELITE, BINARY TRIGGER QUESTION

2411 Views 15 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  AnotherMissedShot
SO I HAVE A M4-22 BUG OUT MICRO ELITE PISTOL, LOVE IT AND SO MUCH FUN TO SHOOT, AND WAS THINKING ABOUT PICKING UP A BINARY TRIGGER TO MAKE IT MORE FUN.
BECAUSE THE MICRO HAS THE COMPACT BOLT AND NOT A BUFFER TUBE & SPRING SETUP ALLOWING SPRING ADJESTMENTS I'M THINKING THERE MIGHT BE CYCLING ISSUES WHEN FIRED IN BINARY MODE.

SO HAS ANYONE TRIED A BINARY TRIGGER IN A MICRO MODEL WITH THE COMPACT BOLT.

So my understanding is that sn over 20k will work but I'm not sure and I'd also like to know
Thanks for the response, I'm debating giving it a go and if it does work out I can drop it in a 5.56.

well, if you do and it does then let us all know. I don't have any ar-15's other than the Tippmann's so I'd have nothing else to use it on if it didn't work :)
Any additional thought or testing of the FA binary? Ordered the micro elite bug out from resilient so trigger will be either the binary or another tt diamond like in the 16".
Anyone have luck on install without sending firearm to Tippmann? I just tried install of a Trigger Tech Diamond and seems the slot in the bottom of the bolt carrier assembly is different sized in the micro bug out vs the 16" elite non-folding. The hammer from the TTD will not fit into the slot which the stock hammer does.

For reference I was able to install a ttd in my wife's m4-22 elite rifle without issue couple months back.

For anyone interested, the FAB defense folding pistol grip does not fit on the micro elite bug out. I am sure with some sanding could make it work but not worth the effort.

Thanks to resilient for getting the micro bug-out sent so quickly. Picked it up today and started swapping parts and adding another EOTech, hoping to test it this weekend.

To close this one out. Emailed both Tippmann and Trigger Tech on Sunday evening about the trigger fitting challenge.

Sunday night 23:37 received response from TriggerTech asking for more info and giving advice to not mod (shave) trigger hammer but wanted to know firearm that it wouldn’t fit.

Didn’t receive email response yesterday from Tippmann so called them today. Less than 10 seconds from ringing to speaking with a live person that knew what the hell they were talking about. He confirmed that the slot in the bolt carrier for the bug out is too narrow for anything but the hammer on their stock trigger. He advised not to try having the BCG slot widened as that would cause issues and like TriggerTech said, I should not narrow the TT hammer. I asked about the Franklin binary and he said same hammer as on the TT since it’s mil-spec and the bug out slot is more narrow than mil-spec so those won’t work.

End of conversation I concluded that I need to plan to stick with the stock trigger if don’t want challenges And frustration.

to confirm, the Franklin Armory binary trigger will NOT work on the M--22 Micro.....Correct?
... and, specifically, please mention the difference between the 'bug-out' version versus the 'regular' pistol version...

This is the 'regular' 'micro' pistol version:

These are the 'bug-out' versions:

They are NOT the same inside and therefore have different trigger acceptance specs.

I have the Tippmann Arms M4-22 Micro Elite Pistol.
I have the Tippmann Arms M4-22 Micro Elite Pistol.
So far as I know, your pistol has the same lower and bolt as the M4-22 rifle version with serial numbers over 20k, and therefore takes 'mil spec' type triggers.

I know this for certain because I have that rifle, and changed my trigger out for a drop in, 2 stage Triggertech.

There is a video out there (I do not have a link to it) that shows someone running your pistol with the Franklin binary trigger in it. Hard to imagine how much fun that would be, and I have surely been tempted.

As has been shown on various websites ... I don't have the pistols here in front of me to take pictures, so, 3rd party data ... but pretty good information is available. And the Tippmann website says your pistol is a milspec fire control group...

Does your bolt look like this one?

The bugout version has a bolt with an integrated spring assembly (allowing the folding option to work) and this bolt arrangement makes the hammer 'slot' too narrow.

Your spring is, like the rifle, in the buffer tube.

The Bugout pistol is covered here:

I was able to install a Franklin Armory binary trigger into my Standard Micro Elite pistol, I had to use the tippmann hammer and pins but it works

That is the key to getting the Franklin Armory binary trigger to work!

Will this also work with the bug-out? When last I spoke with Tippmann they said to keep stock trigger and couldn’t get binary to work due to bolt changes for folder.
Anyone found an aftermarket trigger with a narrower than milspec hammer that will fit the bugout bolt carrier channel? I spoke to Tippman customer service back in November and they said they were working on a bugout model bolt redesign that that would accept milspec triggers but I haven't seen any updates on that on their website/socials.
only way I know is using ResilientArms’ method mentioned above, would imagine could work with more than Franklin but need to be cognizant that mfr of better triggers likely has spring/hammer weight combo that is in a tight toleranc so would try with say my favorite of triggertech diamond. Still rocking the stock in bug out and ttd in the other.
