Bought a Bore scope

I decided to get one of these to see what’s going on inside the barrels. What surprised me was all the scratches on the lands of my cz 457 barrels. These look to be from the factory because they are perpendicular to the rifling. I use a Bore tech bore guide and .20 Bore tech rod.
I also have a Lilja custom barrel and that barrel is perfect except for the carbon ring in the chamber. I got that all cleaned up so I guess the scope is a useful tool.

Carbon ring on the Lilja barrel.

All cleaned now.

PS...Forgot to mention extra mirrors...
I didn't know they made different mirrors for other calibers, Thanks!

The bore scope is an essential tool for hard core .22lr guys. I see a lot of guys say something like, "So the barrel looks like crap. But how does it shoot?" Personally. I can't go to the range with a piece of crap barrel. Just knowing the gun is crap would take everything away. Even if it shot 5 through the same hole. Which it probably doesn't.

MIDGER:
What's the model of the borescope you have in your post from Oct.9, 2022? It has sparked an interest in me to take a look (no pun intended) at them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated sir.
Thx, Portaging

Lilja barrel,
Midger, which specific model Teslong is this? What are you using for a "display" device? Those pics seem OUTSTANDING in terms of definition/clarity, much better than my Lyman.
A borescope is a tool looking for a solution. If a rifle shoots well, why jump the gun - literally pun intended.

KISS and shooting work well. Chasing a rabbit down a never ending hole.

Sometimes we need to consider the carbon based lifeform shooting the rifle before cussing the rifle.
Uh boy. Using a borescope for inspection purposes isn't chasing "...a rabbit down a never ending hole"...using a borescope is a great way of observing a negative condition, instead of whining about some unknown feed/extraction/ejection issues that may be related to a (difficult to observe without a borescope) carbon ring, etc.

There are those who only go to the dentist when they're in excruciating pain, but a little preventive maintenance and daily observations will help ensure less trips to get your teeth drilled. The very same principle applies to the use of a bore scope, but without any of the physical pain experienced at the dentist's office ;)

This is the one I bought, and I use a Samsung S8 phone.

Midger, got it.
Also SA1922M2 thx for the info 👍
I appreciate you you both!
I use my rigid Teslong with my iPad, excellent, haven't seen anything that scared me so far but it shows how well I'm getting my copper out of my centerfires. Some minor defects in throats on rimfire, etc.
I got my Teslong NTG100 ca 3 years ago and use it with my 17" laptop. The pics are much clearer on a large screen and the Windows 'Camera' App lets you take 'stills' as well as vids. When I bought a B22-FV in 2020 it scared me when I saw the 'new' bore, but I can shoot .3-.4" if it lets me. (With a 6-24x50 FFP-SF MOA Cabelas Cov-4.)The button rifling looked like RR-tracks all the was thru but a lot of that has 'worn-in' after a few thou shots.

I endorse that attitude. It goes a long to keep my favorite barrel makers solvent and in business for when I replace my barrels that are shot out.
I have the NTG500H with the 26" stainless probe and the 5" IPS display.
It also has the cable to plug it into the laptop.

You can capture pictures and video on the included memory card.
I also bought a spare for the 5 piece mirror set that came with it.
Probably one of my best gun related purchases that I've made.

This is what the bore in my 1926 Model 94 26” rifle looks like. Corrosive primed ammo and less than diligent cleaning took its toll. Yet it still shoots 2 MOA five shots groups at 100 yards with its Lyman 1A tang sight.

IMHO people get way too worked up about a minor nick or tool mark in a barrel. The last half inch of the barrel and in particular the barrel crown have the most significant effect on accuracy. If the crown isn’t damaged, I don’t get to worked up about what the rest of the bore looks like.

I just got the low end model that works on an Android phone, around $55 I think. Works great and gave me my first look at a carbon ring that's forming on my CP33. Get one.
I would like to have a bore scope. I will look into that one.

Can I ask what app people are using to get the Teslong borescopes to work on their android phones?

The app I'm using is Endoscope camera for my android phone. It is simple to use.
