This is a toss up, but I think I'd end up favoring my first model 617, the balance just suits me better than my K22 Masterpiece, and the stainless has certainly seen more holster time in tight brush. Still theres nothing quite like the quality in a 5 screw S&W :D

Personal preference is different. Comparing something to a Yugo, IS "putting something down". I guess some people can't voice their opinion or preference without insulting the rest.

Lots of people strap on a single action for general outdoor use, hunting, even personal defense and don't feel undergunned for a second. When it comes to housing powerful big bore cartridges in a portable package, they are second to none. It's also surprisingly easy to burn a brick of bulk ammo with a Ruger or Colt single action .22 with just a little practice.

IMO, Your appreciation for revolvers and your collection are half empty if you don't enjoy a good single action. :p

Maybe my alltime favorite rimfire revolver was an old S&W mod 53 in .22 Rem Jet with an 8 3/8" bbl and the optional .22lr cylinder. The action was slick and light and the accuracy was awe inspiring. Someone offered too much and I sold it (regrettably) in a fit of greed.

Single Sixes are cool. But I've never owned one--when the time came to put the money down, there was always something else I wanted more. But if someone offered me one at a great price, at a time I had that much loose change sitting around, I'd snap it up.

But it would never replace my Smiths or Colts.

I have a Colt officers model made in 1937 and it is very accurate. Very smooth action also. I have a S&W 5 screw and it definetly comes in second to the Colt.
Dwight, I don't know where you're finding those Colts for $300, but bring them up here and you can probably double your money :D . The last one I saw in a shop up here was only about 50% blue left and it was priced at $595, and it sold.
