Best bipod feet for benchrest (with a little PRS)

772 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Romeo
So my Black Friday MDT GRND POD bipod and ARCA rail finally showed up this week and were installed on my CZ 457 Varmint MTR. But I got to thinking -- upgrades should have upgrades.

I primarily shoot bench rest but I do want to get into a bit of PRS this year. I was wondering if it was worth my while to upgrade the feet to either the CKYE-POD or Atlas claw feet, or the stock feet are good enough for my purposes.

Thoughts?

I'm wondering the same thing. I have an Accutac BR4 on the way. They sell big spikes that can be installed on the feet. I'm not sure if I'll need them or not but since they're offered, there must be a need.

I figure they can be used for self defense or spearing carp if nothing else. :)

Claw feet on a concrete bench wont offer much. I use reg feet on Atlas bipods.
2 of these and a 4ft furring ft will anchor any bipod, on any bench.

My Harris bipods work great on our benches at the club with rubber feet. Since I want to shoot some NRL matches this summer and will probably end up lying in dirt at some time or another, spikes might come in handy.

I had a lot of friends buy spikes a few yrs back, rarely see them today. But their rifles were heavy. I have never seen a Harris that pans, so any degree of movement will require a new position. Where most Atlas bipods do pan.
Never know till you try!

What about a wooden bench?
You don't need the claws spikes. . Most of the time in prs you are ripping off bipods. In nrl monthly it standardized props. In nrlx2 I use a bipod for usually 2 stages.
Claws are fantastic for Harris deployment meaning thrusting that sucker and dragging them along the whatever to force it open. If you have THAT use case then you need them. Also with tons of push load in wood. Which I think nobody does for BR.
Mine came off the day my prs cf rifle sunk into a wooden table at the house. I forgot and was going to clean it.

I'm sure it would be rock solid, smart money says they would chew up the wood some.
